I made a little review on our Little Red Campfire. It's a great set-up for mounting on the roof since it has a steel lid and is completely self contained. Also lighter than a lava rock pit. Let me know what you think!
I made a little video recently on how we load out and distribute weight for the trail. I’ve been posting these over at iH8mud for a while but thought I would give it a try here and see if you guys run me off, yawn or invite me back : )
There are so many Baofeng and Baofeng knockoffs on Amazon it's hard to choose. I'd like to get a unit that can talk GMRS and FRS and have a higher TX rating (5-8w on high). The Boafeng's are about twice as much as the other manufactures for the same model. I even saw one today with a 10w claimed...
That looks like it would work well. I just ordered a strip of this stuff:

I'm just going to cut it to length and permanently attach it to the handle holes on all my tanks. It was $7.50 for 1 meter so I figure that should cover my two 20#'s and the 5#. I'll post a pick...
I think I’ll try some edge trim like the use around bumpers. I can get that cheap on amazon and then cut it to the tank handle size. Then it could just stay with the tank. Thanks for all the help!
That might work if I could keep from loosing them. If the pads were thin enough I suppose I could cut them and thread them onto the strap.
Any idea where Id source rubber materials?
I’ve been dragging a 20# tank out for unlimited campfires in fire season (which is pretty much constant in a lot of AZ now). I have smaller tanks but they just don’t run the campfire super long (6hrs/5# tank). I worked up a super simple way to mount it to my platform but need some help figuring...
The funny thing about this thread is that the OP posted it 6months ago. He responded once, the next day. But the conversation has been going for 6 months : )
I like the GX but Im biased. Here’s my review of the 460:
The Poor Man's Land Cruiser
Can't help you on your original question, but I am really enjoying your camping cocktails video.
Thanks! That one didn’t do that well for some reason but it sure was fun drinking it... I mean making it : )
New here but thought I would post my Smittybilt onboard air system . I modded a smittybilt compressor to mount under the hood and added a pressure switch and manifold to make it more like an ARB. It's worked great so far and it's much cheaper than an ARB based system. I hope this helps anyone...
Wholly shirt. Your teardrop build looks awesome and your work on the XJ(s) is amazing. looks like you were hanging out with Matt's Off-road recovery when you built it : ) I'd love to run a trail and get a walk around of your set-up.
