    Big Bend State Park Recs

Lots of good info in this post and as said above, you could spend a month there, lol. I would just add that the basin is a different park from the desert, eco-wise. So make sure you take time to drive up there and check it out for a different experience.

US Rocky Mountain Back-country Discovery Routes – Utah/Colorado

I signed up, planning on only doing option B, Colorado only, but wasn't sure how to indicate that on sign up.

MOORE offroad expo Springfield Missouri April 8-10

I understand why they moved the date given the weather, but it was nice when it was earlier in the year and there was no competition for stuff to do. I went to the initial one they held, I think it was in February. April is like the #1 month for events, I've already got several things calling...

Going back to a Full Size for my Overlanding

Nice setup! On my Hawk, I just use the built-in fresh water drain as a hand washing station. I've never used the full 26 gallons (fresh + hot water) on a week-long trip, showers included, so no fear using the drain for the occasional quick wash.

Enchanted Rockies Trail in the winter

I did it in July and the weather was great, but some of the campsites are pretty high and the nights were cold even then. The FB group has a recent post of someone who did part of one section (Medano pass) this past weekend and he said snow obscured the road. Basically, several of the spots in...

    CB radios

I carry a hand held CB for group events just in case, but it seems most of the groups I'm around now use GMRS which it the one I mounted in my vehicle. I also have a hand held ham radio and my tech license. I get your point, it all depends but if I had to pick one for group rides, it would be...

    CB radios

I think most have moved on to GMRS instead of CB's.

Grand Canyon North or South in November for Overlanding with Trailer

It's listed as day use area only in the National Park in November. Of course, there's a lot more to the north rim than just the park but if it's too snowy to keep the main paved road open, what will the backcountry be like? I would strongly recommend the south rim in winter or the North Rim...

Grand Canyon North or South in November for Overlanding with Trailer

I'll just toss this out there for your consideration, the North Rim National Park facilities all close October 15th in preparation for snow. Weather is always fickle, so you never know...but you never know.

US Rocky Mountain Picket Wire Canyonlands Guided Auto Tour by US Forest Service (Colorado)

I'm planning on boondocking at Vogel Canyon Picnic Area. I know is says picnic area in the title but if you go to the grasslands web page it says it allows camping. Its about 20 minutes south of where we meet up Saturday. if it's full (it does say heavy use) there's plenty of other places in the...

US Rocky Mountain Picket Wire Canyonlands Guided Auto Tour by US Forest Service (Colorado)

I'm coming up from Oklahoma, but right now I'm planning on dispersed camping the grasslands Friday night and probably somewhere back in Oklahoma Saturday night.

    Okie here!

Be sure to post up in here: Oklahoma overlanders where ya at? FYI, I'm in Guthrie, but tend to head to New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona or Utah for trips more so than Oklahoma.

    Like camping? Like bugs? Well....

Meh, they don't eat much :grinning: Seriously though, Florida definitely gives Oklahoma a run for its money when it comes to the creepy crawlers, lol. Pythons, Alligators, and more, I'll take a few friendly, fuzzy spiders any day...now it's the snakes you really have to look out for, we have...

    Parashant National Monument

I've done that trip with Bob, you'll enjoy it. There are good trips to the Grand Canyon and there are Great Trips to the Grand Canyon, but I don't think there is such a thing as a bad trip to the GC. PS, this is my truck after the rain on that trip.

Big Bend Ranch State Park Trip Report

Went there for a week in December 2019, I would agree with what you posted. Only thing I would add is that for any future trips I plan on booking a different site for every night, it is spread out so you don't want to camp in the same place the whole trip. Two nights at most in the same spot...
