    Which BDR was your favorite?

About five and a half days. Our group did the whole route, I personally didn't do Ophir Pass (long story). We were doing north to south so that was at the end of the trip. How much time have you spent in New Mexico? If you haven't spent much then do that instead!

    Which BDR was your favorite?

So far I've done New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming. I love New Mexico and travel there often (I live in Oklahoma) so while I enjoyed that BDR, it didn't cover much new territory for me. Wyoming was pretty good but had long sections not as interesting. Which leads me to Colorado. Again, I have...

US West *Trip Limit Reached (6 Rigs Max)* Gold Butte-Grand Parashant/Grand Canyon Rim-Nevada-Arizona-Utah

Changed that up, I have decided to spend the two days at Snow Canyon SP instead and explore some of the lava tubes, etc. I've been to Valley of Fire SP before and it's pretty nice but figured it would be too similar to what we're driving through. My plan now is to meet the group at Gold Butte...

US West *Trip Limit Reached (6 Rigs Max)* Gold Butte-Grand Parashant/Grand Canyon Rim-Nevada-Arizona-Utah

I'm not in charge of anything related to this, but 100% of the trips I've been on, which is a lot, I have NEVER seen everyone show up who signed up 3+ months in advance. I'm betting you'll be able to go when someone inevitably drops.

Just booked Valley of Fire for Mon & Tue and plan on meeting the group at Loves or Gold Butte Road on Wednesday morning, will figure it out later.

US West *Trip Limit Reached (6 Rigs Max)* Gold Butte-Grand Parashant/Grand Canyon Rim-Nevada-Arizona-Utah

Just signed up. Got a little taste of this area a few years ago and have been wanting to go back, unfortunately rain was an issue and we had to turn back early. The clay out there is super slick when wet, put one of the tacos into a ditch.

Kayaks- Inflatable, Rigid, Folding…whaddya have and how you like it

I have a inflatable Sea Eagle Razorlite 393. It's a drop stich kayak and is fast in the water. I use it mostly on lakes. I had an ORU fold up but didn't like the seat and the foot pegs were just a loose bar across the boat. Sold it. The 393rl has real foot pegs. I weigh about 230lbs so that's a...

Planning a weekend trip in Oklahoma

Keep in mind that state WMA areas such as Sandy Sanders require an active hunting or fishing license and not all allow camping and even the ones that do have blackout dates during certain hunts. There are very few dispersed camping areas in Oklahoma except for the National Forest Land in the SE...

    Denali Ultimate off-road?!

Better tires are always a good investment but there's a whole thread on here on full sized rigs, you would have lots of company even in your stock truck. You will most likely pinstripe it, so might consider some paint protection film for the sides if that concerns you. I did a lot of trails in...

Overlanding in a Full-Size Truck - Comfortable family rig or doomed like the Titanic?

I own a full, full sized. A GMC 2500 AT4 (i.e., crew cab + 6.9 bed) so that's about as big as you can get in a pickup. I find it can do about 90% of what the Jeeps can do. There are definitely trails where they get too narrow and it does limit my use, but not so much that I would consider going...

    BIG BEND RANCH STATE PARK

You are discussing Big Bend National Park, not Big Bend Ranch State Park. The two are near each other, but the ranch is literally that, an old ranch converted to a state park and has no amenities. There is a ranger station and bunkhouse in the old ranch house location in the center but no gas or...

    BIG BEND RANCH STATE PARK

Couple of things I would say. First, everything is further apart than you think (which is why it's awesome) and secondly, you'll be by yourself a lot, so be prepared. Bonus comment, many of the routes will pinstripe your vehicle, so if you're worried about that, be flexible when choosing.

Snow on Engineer Pass, Cinnamon Pass, or Imogene Pass in early July?

Did those last July when doing the Colorado BDR and there was plenty of snow around but not on the road, those were clear. We were walking around in short sleeve shirts during the day except when the wind was blowing. As others have said, lighting and general t-storms were the biggest concern...

    Oklahoma overlanders where ya at?

Sean, sorry about the timing as I hate to post up about past events, but we just had the first Rigs and Coffee event yesterday morning (Feb 11th) and about 150 people showed up. I was amazed at the turnout. Hopefully we'll have good weather on March 11th too and I'll see you there.

US Southwest Big Bend - Spring 2023

I've decided to move up to a 3/4 ton since I'm hauling a Four Wheel Camper. Even though my 1/2 ton has gotten me where I want to go, including Big Bend Ranch in the past, I wanted to add a winch and sliders and I'm already maxed out on weight with the camper. 100,000 miles on the old truck...

US Southwest Big Bend - Spring 2023

I just dropped off the rsvp list, I don't think I'm going to have a vehicle available for this trip. I've ordered a new truck with no eta rather than purchase what's on the lot. Hopefully I can catch a future trip with you.
