Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I think I saw one today. 4 door, SUV, no truck bed. Southbound on Hwy 101 in San Mateo, CA He took the 92 W exit. It was lifted, right hand drive, and seemed to be "listing" to the right for a lack of better term. Probably was a 76.
I wonder how they will get around all the emissions and...
Yes. I was going to try and use them to secure my driving lights as well as my winch. I can see myself using them all over my rig. The fact that you only need a standard wrench to remove is a huge plus. You don't have to worry about a special tool or key...however, you DO need at least 1...
Same here, but man, sometimes you just get so busy with other stuff. Where have you taken yours? I know a guy in the east bay that has a Burb as well and we've been trying to plan a trip. I'll be down for an overnighter or even a day trip to Hollister or Carnegie (never been to either).
Thanks! If you have any other questions on it, or need better/close up pictures let me know. I was thinking of just getting a security nut. That way I don't need to worry about a lock.
Something like this. Just gotta see if I can buy a few and not 100.
As for the locking pin, it does...
I know this is a fairly old post. I have the same winch. I currently have it setup on a Curt hitch mount that goes into a Curt front hitch on my Suburban. I can't answer your question directly, but I do know that people were having issues with how to mount the hawse fairlead on the ARB...
The Wilco Hitchgate is nice but it's not perfect.
Pros:
-I like the fact that I can remove it whenever I want.
-You can still tow with it installed.
-There is zero wobble due to their innovative wedge-lock design
-Powder coating finish is very thick
Cons:
-The bolt on accessories are...
Thanks for your comparison! Seems these things can be pricey but worth their weight in gold if the get your unstuck when out on the trails. Only wish the Maxsa came in other colors.
Unfortunately, I don't have too many actions shots. Here's a rear shot.
Absolutely do have plans on getting a locker for the rear but I'll wait till my 10 bolt goes on me and will source a 14 bolt SFF and then get a proper locker for it. The rear diffs and tranmissions are the weak points...
Not disagreeing with you. Just saying my view of aftermarket support for parts is jaded as there isn't much for my rig. Compared to mine...a 4 Runner has way more aftermarket support...an XJ even more so like you've mentioned. For standard OEM repair and replacement parts, you can find stuff...
Here is my build thread on my 2003 Chevy Suburban 1500 Z71.
I bought her with 100,400 miles on 1/9/2015. She was bone stock and previously owned by an elderly couple who always brought her to the dealer for regular maintenance.
I know we all like pics.
A few days after I picked her up...
Not even close, but it would have been hilarious if he did.
Apparently some guys are resorting to "making" a Ramsey 6000 out of the 5000 and 8000 along with some other parts.

Hey guys, a new coworker of mine built up a very cool Jurassic Park Jeep replica. He wants to get the same winch they used in the movie. He says it's a Ramsey REP 6000 which is no longer made. The 5000 and the 8000 are still in production.
If you happen to know of one for sale or come...
I have a Wilco Hitchgate as well that I need some modifications done. Mounts for traction aids, jerry cans, and high lift. Wilco makes a dual jerry can holder but they want $350+ for it. Way too much $$ just for a tray that bolts on to the Hitchgate.
Not sure if you saw this thread but...
I guess I'm just used to not having even a couple of manufacturers making things for my 03 Suburban so having more than a handful to choose from skews my idea of how much aftermarket support a given vehicle has. Compared to mine, a Toyota 4 Runner has many options...but you will pay for it.
I...
Good idea on the remote air intake. I was thinking that if the compressor is fully sealed that it could go inside some sort of box to protect it from the elements. Maybe and old ammo can or an old pelican case? Heck my Sub has some big spaces in back compartment where it could go as well...
