Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
PM sent. And if you just offer the pay for a rewarding adventure stuff and less of the opportunities to work with you stuff, I'm all ears for that info too.
Thanks.
Seems there would be lots of history in Kansas, it was the wild west for a long time after all. I imagine that some of it predates the rush to move out west and that pre expansion time and the interactions with the native people, and would be pretty cool history to know. Looking for old rail...
Direct link to the paper document I used. The Plumas NF map you can get (the big one) has the route outlined in Yellow. Super easy, and like I said in the story, you can make the trip way faster than we did.

I actually grew up for a time in Millis, MA and parts of this drive reminded me of the woods I played in as a kid. And yea, this was early October. Great time for it, though I think the spring would be nicer in terms of flowers.
Love seeing old Montero's do their thing. The best 4x4 that usually goes below the radar because there isn't as much aftermarket support as there is for 4runners and jeeps.
Your dogs are beautiful! Is Europe pretty well covered in dirt roads? I always imagine there being ancient paths all over the place (being that the US is still a fairly "new" land) that have all sorts of awesome history to them. You have a picture there and it appears to have a street sign out...
You guys are adorable!! I remember when me and the misses started taking our first adventures. The oooh's and the ahhhh's and the marveling at every beautiful thing we saw. The feeling of being in nature, away from people, some what self reliant and detached from the regularity of life are all...
My 94 Dodge 2500 light duty with 31in stock tires, a 316 small block v8 and 4x4 cost me $3000. Took that darn thing everywhere an expensive rig could go, save the super tight switchbacks, and a lot of places they wouldn't. When you pay $3000 for your overland rig, you look forward to the...
You could use some of that thicker contact paper, it's sticky on one side and people use it for bottoms of cabinets and such? I've felt a plastic kind of diamond plate version of that and thought it would work for just this sort of thing. I don't remember what it was called, but it was at...
impact lightly on the places I travel. leave it better than i found it. pack it in, pack it out. act as a steward of nature - enjoy it and explore it but always appreciate it.
looks like a lovely place. If you resize the pictures, or choose a smaller thumbnail from your host site, the pictures will not require scrolling through to see them, and make a much more presentable post!
that is really cool. I've driven the 95 and always thought it a moonscape, how cool it must have been with all that life! great bits of history, really appreciate that.
