Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Oh, and our current adventure vehicle. A 2015 Tucson SE with AWD and a locking center diff (electronic push button) and sport shift so I can keep her in low gear. I also got the downhill assist on her, which helps save brakes. She needs some tires, but is pretty capable as is. Clearance is...
Welcome to the forums neighbor! Have you had a chance to do the Plumas NF back country discovery trail? You can access the first leg from the road going to the ranger station in Nevada City and it's a nice multi day historical journey. there is a PDF guide and everything!
Who did you purchase this from and whats the ballpark figure on a set up like this? are they stable on most off road trails (I wouldn't do anything to extreme). Also, some pics of the space with reference would be cool. We have two medium sized dogs and a baby to take on adventures.
I have always meant to visit the dunes when I go through there, just north of town, but never do.
There are some neat side trips around there like Rhyolite, the ghost town. Or the old car open air art installation. Cadillac ranch of nevada.
Looks like a lovely start. I've got a novel i've been working on for years and as I sit here with a newborn in this pandemic, I'm taking notes for another small book about raising a baby (oh, this one will be different...).
Keep it up!!
One of the best signs I've ever seen. If I had seen it on the way into the trail I may have turned around, so I'm glad I only caught it in my rear view.
and here is a sign that my wife and I knew we would only ever see once in this lifetime. So, we took a picture of it.
Ok, here's a few more to stir peoples ideas. I'd love to see some of those European Bloc flags.. I know there's some awesome 4x4 trails out there. Haven't seen a lot out of Asia or Australia, so that would be cool too. Of course, would be neat for Canadians to represent, being that I am one...
Love that part of AZ. We have land just over the border in Gila, NM so we drive through that area often. I've always told the wife that the only place I could live in AZ is that Flagstaff area. The elevation, terrain and flora is right up my alley. I even read that lately you can get acres for...
Taking the flag with you on adventures!! Now that is pro level right there. Te-Has is close enough to it's own nation.
This reminds me I should have allowed military service branch flags too. I'd love to see different units from all over the world represented.
Great pics!!
I'm digging the tent sections coming off the vehicles. We usually sleep in ours, so it would be neat to have it turned into rooms. We don't usually stay at one place too long though, so these types of setups have always seemed too much work. I may rethink that now.
Here's a thing we can all get behind. From all the lands on all the continents, let's see your nations flags. Post a picture of a flag caught up in a photo you took on an overland adventure. The more unique and spectacular, the better! Winner gets free membership for life and like a bazillion...
It's a good thing we have professionals in the field of medicine and sociology to come and tell us forum folk all about this Wuchin Flu going around. Thanks @Charles M , I feel safer already. I'll stay home and I"ll salt those leaches coming to enjoy my Sierra Nevada home.
We are gifted with...
Now sometimes I call this a camp
and sometimes this serves as a nice home base
The wife and I love a good snow camp, if this can be called one. Lookout Mountain, Bowman Lake area California. Jan 1 2018
Parking lots will do in a pinch
Camping out of cars on famous corners at famous race...
She isn't the most capable, but Firefly will get around if needed. Got a center locker on her and downhill assist with AWD and a sport shifter (to maintain low gear).
A rig I took on quite the off road test drive. After a 250 dollar rebuff, I didn't end up buying it.
My first overland...
