  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

    Camp Tents

I use the REI Kingdom 4. Plenty of space for cots, dogs, gear, changing, or even setting up a comfortable office. Full rain fly. Aluminum poles. I’ve been using it for 4 years, and aside from a little wind damage when I didn’t use guy lines it has been very durable (surprising considering the...

    Planning a trip to Moab

Any passes in CO may be closed into June depending on snowpack. The absolute best resource I would recommend for Colorado trails and Moab trails are the "Backroads and 4-Wheel Drive Trails" by Charles Wells. His rating system and trail descriptions are excellent.

    Planning a trip to Moab

I visit Moab frequently with my Jeep so if you have any Moab specific questions I might be able to help. As for your drive to Moab, I would recommend checking out the Grand Canyon of Texas (Palo Duro Canyon State Park). I never tried it, but from the highway I remember seeing a bunch of rigs...

    The Colorado Jeep

The cheap plastic interior of the 2010 JK has always bothered me, so I am gradually re-surfacing everything with enamel paint. I’ll have to re-do a lot of it, but so far I’m liking the look and feel of it.

    Interest in Colorado meetup??

I’m in. What does an Overland Bound meetup look like? Just coffee? I’d be up for following the coffee with an easy trail and maybe a cookout in the woods for lunch (or a pizza place if it’s a nasty day, haha). I know good options for that kind of thing in the Boulder area. Just an idea. Simple...

    Lets see some trail photos!

Recent trip from Denver to Vegas by way of Moab and Escalante. Most of these pictures are from Poison Spider in Moab. Relaxing for awhile at Willow Springs campground Swithcbacks at the beginning of Poison Spider trail Trail dog! Going up "the waterfall" One of many steep ledges...

    Escalante/Powell Trip

Alstrom Point looks awesome! I am definitely working that in.

    Escalante/Powell Trip

I ruled out the kayaks. It’ll just be too cold to enjoy it. Hole in the Rock looks awesome. Apparently north of the lake is the long dirt road, and south of the lake is a moderate 4x4 trail. The trail side even has a Jeep Badge of Honor that only 20 people have ever gone there for. I’d like to...

    Escalante/Powell Trip

I am planning a trip through southern Utah, starting in Moab and finishing in Vegas. The main point is to spend a few days exploring escalante and northern lake Powell for a couple of days. What are some must-see locations in Escalante or along the northern shores of lake Powell? Any awesome...

    Winter camping options

Not a bad idea! I need to see Big Bend still, and maybe climb Guadalupe on my way down there.

    Winter camping options

This thread ended up fun and informative. We got caught around Moab 2 years ago when the weather report said low 30s at night and I woke up frozen to 18 degrees at 5am. It was cold enough to freeze most of my 7 gallon water cube. She has an REI magma bag and was layered up to her winter coat...

    Winter camping options

Is there a fail proof way to setup ventilation for a propane heater? I thought a small opening at the top of the tent would be enough, but I read some articles saying carbon monoxide doesn’t always rise as its density is similar to regular air. I just want to know as much as possible. It seems...

    Jeep Owners Represent!

I guess I only responded about the rack but you asked about the basket. The basket in an unknown mystery brand I found on Craigslist for $40. So far I’m happy with it, and I feel like I can get at least my $40 back if I change my mind about it.

    Jeep Owners Represent!

It is the Bestop Overhead Rack (not including the basket). They stopped making it 7 years ago but I searched hard and finally found one on Craigslist for $80. I think it is the coolest accessory. It is a rail system like on the inside of a lot of truck beds but it mounts to the outside of the...

    The Colorado Jeep

Finally bought new tires. I went with Big O Big Foot A/Ts. Here’s why: These are some of the lightest LT315/70r17s out there at 60.3lbs which is good as long as I’m running a D30 up front and 3.73 gears. These tires are made by Cooper and have similar tread as the AT3 which have good reviews for...

    Unruly people....

I wasn't replying to you specifically, and it sounds like you have a great attitude towards the subject. The majority of responses seem to push excluding and banning this guys friends forever. It is probably the best course of action for the future. It's the risk of them being idiots again...

    Unruly people....

This reminds me of a thread where someone suggested adding a dating aspect to the OB forum under the premise that it'd be cool to meet a like-minded companion here, and also so they could see if an event is full of married people so the single person could opt out of being a 3rd or 5th wheel...
