Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Welcome! At the top of the main page of the forum it lists 146.460 as well as the CB and GMRS channels that we use as a group. I also monitor .520 and a couple others using scan.
Thanks for everyone's support last night! I had a great time running the net and I think it was a great net, especially for our first go at it.
We had 15 check ins including a couple V-land guys and one gent from the UK.
There was a lot of good info passed and I hope it was informative for...
OK fellas, some new info for everyone. You can listen in live to the GnG server via RadioReference here if you don't have a license and would like to hear what we have going on:

You'll still have to have a NMO mount. I use this one on the driver's side of my Xterra's rear hatch. I had to drill a couple extra clocking holes in the base when...
Canada and US have different regulations. FCC issues you a call here. Some VECs have better linking and can get you your call sooner after testing. The group we use at the club is usually within a few hours. However, as soon as your call shows up in the FCC database you can print your license...
Traffic around Towers can be a mess sometimes, no doubt about that. But parking there is great. We've got some time yet to decide on a place but I'd like to have a date and location nailed down by next weekend.
Sounds good! I replied to your message Mike.
Will do Chris! Thanks!
I know there's been some litigation involving these cheaper Chinese radios and I wonder if they didn't realize that this radio falls into that category. The Baofengs, Pofungs, and similar are all under fire from the FCC right now.
Welcome! You'll be really happy with that Xterra. I love my 07 and there are quite a few of us around here with Nissans.
What year are you getting? Some of the early 2nd gens have a few issues to work through but they are mostly pretty easy fixes and the are a lot of write-ups on...
I saw that too. I don't get to monitor enough to know what goes on there though. It was linked to a repeater for one net last week when we were playing around with it. I couldn't get checked in to it to get info because of the carrier drop rule that the group it was linked too wasn't observing.
I personally won't buy a mobile that doesn't have a squelch knob. It's too handy to be able to quickly open squelch to listen for weak signals or crank it up when you're around a leaky transformer or some other kind of noise.
Unless someone local to you connects a local repeater to the conference server, you don't have a way to listen in that I'm aware of. Maybe there's a OB member local to you and you could check the net out with them. With a licensed ham, you can check in with them as long as you follow the rules...
Checkout the thread for the Roanoke area! We're working on a meetup in January.

That's a really nice setup! I keep seeing these awesome drawer setups and its pushing me toward building a set for the X. Yours is one of the nicest I've seen! Where did you get the slides from?
I paid to have my sliders powder coated and added grip tape from Lowe's to the tops of the tubes to make it safer to stand on. I hope the powder coat will stand up where it's attached to the frame. Where they get used though, I have to keep them touched up on the bottom side. I generally use the...
This has helped me before too. However my paper maps didn't show the complete trail I was on so there was still a fair amount of guess work involved.
Spending the time to double check your paper maps vs your route is a good idea.
Two is one, one is none!
