Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Great looking truck! I REALLY like the Frontiers. I kinda wish I had gotten one instead of the Xterra but the shorter wheel base of the X works better for what I use my X for. I don't think I'll ever be done with rock crawling so I have to balance wheel base and ground clearance very carefully...
Those are GMRS radios and there isn't a test for them, but they do require a license to use on High power. It's about $75 for 10 years and covers your entire household (spouse and kids). I don't know much about the radios themselves but it's a good start. They will talk with GMRS or FRS radios...
There's so few of us Nissans around, we have to stick together. I have a build going on TheNewX. I'll just link it.
The short of it:
2" lift
285's
some armor
a winch
body damage....
Not today but the weekend tally includes diagnosing a failing steering rack, disassembling and cleaning the master window switch to get the driver's side window working again, touching up the paint on the sliders finally and putting my axe and shovel back under the seat after having them out for...
I have a Warn Zeon 10S on the Xterra. I have not had call to use it yet. The last time we were out, a strap from a buddy's truck got me off the rock.
I thought the same thing back when I could always find someone to wheel with. I've gone out solo enough in recent years I decided to go ahead...
The 897d is a great radio. It's my base radio at home.
IMHO, it's too much to start with. Right now I think you would be better served to set it aside and pick up a used 2m/440 mobile to play with. You need to get your tech and begin using your license. Check in to local nets, learn the proper...
Jeeps with the parallel link suspension are not easy on the steering system and they have always been prone to bending the tie rod itself.
There are steering upgrades out there that use upgraded TREs that will hold up better and an aluminum tie rod that will bend back after its been hit. A good...
Did a little night wheeling with a buddy and his 4x4 E350 van above the house after we set up a FF D60 he's gonna swap in it this winter.
Had a great weekend around the house!
I did a 10lb butt and a pan of beans on my vertical yesterday. Started out with a ton of apple chunk and used a less as the smoke went on. Took about 10hrs, beans were on about two. Pulled super easy.
I've been wanting to do a brisket but I just haven't really had the time this summer to put...
Well, it's worth the effort to show up when you can and try to check in on what nets you can. I usually have to work our ARES net mobile while taking a kid to Karate. We have a meeting tonight actually. There's a program on operating the satellites and the guy putting it on is raffling an Arrow...
Good stuff! Now I would suggest you get involved with a local club and enjoy being on the air. Just having the license is fine, but to truly get the most from it and develop your operating skills, I always suggest being mildly involved in a club. I've learned so much and had a lot of fun with my...
This will weigh well over 100lb and take two people to handle. My 4500lb winch box weighs 70lb with the leads and snatch block and shackles.
Get the More Power Puller. Those are great pieces and you can extract yourself pretty quick, but it does usually involve two people to do it safely...
Probable change in plans for me. A good buddy of mine is coming down that weekend with a D60 for me to setup for his E350 Van. It looks like I'm out for that weekend. Too bad, I had a great time there last year and was looking forward to meeting up with everyone.
