    Tablets and tablet software

Now, not hungry at all. Very lightweight. The old version was a pig. It was gigs for any trip I took that was loccal. Now I mapped half of Baja and it was about 400mb.

    Tablets and tablet software

I use GAIA on an old ipad mini wifi. I tether the ipad to my Garmin inReach and it has been a solid combo. Great maps, recording with stats, and sharing/uploading routes is easy. The new GAIA app is also way less of a pig, so maps download much faster and take up way less space.

Don't forget that the Orange County (and near areas) meet in Irvine on the 1st Saturday of the month. See the Calendar or shoot message me!

What means of communication do you have available?

Just wired coax in my truck so I can thread a CB antenna or a dual band ham antenna depending on what I want that trip. Both are handhelds so I can go fully mobile on whichever doesn't get the coax/antenna or just unplug and take the radio with me. Eventually I might get a mobile mounted in the...

Nothing to see here, Move along

I can't tell if you're being snarky or serious . It reads like you're going to continue with the parade of logos and we're not going to see this beast in the making. Good luck with the build.

Nothing to see here, Move along

I am really confused by what's going on here, why all the logos and no pictures of the jeep? Half of the fun is seeing how you made this rig your own.

US West Orange County, CA Monthly Meet-up

Totally agree. They’re really god about this stuff. Hopefully it’s not a major problem. Worst case I may need to create a new Rally point each month to keep it from falling off the list.

US West Orange County, CA Monthly Meet-up

Thanks for the heads up, that seems to be a recurring issue. I will discuss with Michael. The best place to look is the Calendar or post #1 in this thread is a link directly to the rally point page, between the image and the sig.

Hello! Looking forward to joining the community.

Welcome! Sounds like a great adventure in the making and some good mechanical experience to go along with it. You'll find with Overlanding the ability to carry gear becomes a priority pretty quick the longer you plan to be out. Roof racks are also usually one of the first mods after suspension...

Socal Meet up in Orange County?

We sure do, there is a meet up on Saturday, Feb 3rd. 8-am - 11am. Here is the thread for that specific meetup and the rally point link is below the image. https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/threads/reoccurring-orange-county-ca-monthly-meet-up-01-06-2018.10924/

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

100% my rig is stock as far suspension goes, the only significant thing I have added is the roof rack. So far, I have not needed more. It surprises me everytime I think I am pushing it. Could I use more travel and be able to go faster offroad with tunable shocks, sure. But that's not my need. I...

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Everything @BoldAdventure said . Man, I love that picture, great shot! Truck looks BOSS. I also think a lot of people really underestimate what their vehicle is capable of.

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

I hear you on the range, my F-150 crushes the FJC with only a 23 gal tank. My range off-road is right around 200mi in the FJC. My F-150 can hit 300mi off road without breaking a sweat, that eco-boost V6 is no joke. Sorry didn't mean to hijack the convo about FJ's just making the point that...

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Have you considered wrapping the truck? I know a guy that wrapped his 4runner and he intentionally drives it through stuff. The durability is impressive, to say the least.

Why are there so few Silverado overland rigs?

Absolutely correct. I am dealing with this now in with my FJ Cruiser. I also have an F-150 and I have to say, loading up the F-150 to the gills and rolling out you would never know you were hauling anything except for the sag. The FJ cruiser on the other hand, I notice an extra passenger. lol.

    Dash Cam Suggestions

Anyone have any experience with the Garmin - Dash Cam 55? Seem to be some pretty good reviews and features. I've been considering one for my rig. Another one I have heard good things about is the GRDIAN DEFENDR+, one of the local guys has one.

US West Orange County, CA Monthly Meet-up

Thanks for the feedback @Papawolf, I will look into the calendar issue with the OB team as it was working fine last week. We meet the first Saturday of every month. The only conflict we had was a request to coordinate so I wouldn't say it's a large one. People want to do as much as they can, but...
