Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
The Samurai got some use this past weekend. My son was driving it and I was in my XJ. The XJ had to work to get up this clay covered slick hill. The Samurai just walked up it with no issues. That extra weight will get you every time.
It was a fun day.
The coffee I drink depends on what kind of camping I'm doing.
If I want to get on the road early or packed light, I'll be drinking this instant. By far the best I've ever had.
If I'm just camping in one spot for days, I'll pack a pour-over and grinder. My go-to bean is Don Pablo Signature...
I carried Mini Mags for decades but technology has left them far behind. My daily carry for the past 5-6 years is a Streamlight ProTac HL. Like the light pictured above, it is well used and abused but works flawlessly.
Drivetrain vibration problem solved. The joints on the old shaft didn't have any play in them and were smooth. Either the shaft was slightly bent or out of balance. It's smooth as silk to 80 mph now.
Next up will be engine and transmission mounts when I change the engine.
I'm chasing a high-speed driveline vibration. Today the XJ got a new rear driveshaft. That took care of 60% of it. A new front driveshaft is on the way. Hopefully, that will take care of the rest of it. I guess the 265k miles are taking their toll.
Gas. Then go out for a drive in the woods.
Then pick up a few basics like a tent and such and go camping. Take a few camping trips close to home to see what you need. Otherwise, you will end up with a pile of expensive junk you never use sitting around the house collecting junk.
I smoked Winstons for 30 years. I quit for about 10 years but truly missed the smell of tobacco. Now I smoke a cigar on a daily basis. My go-to cigars are the Fuente 858 Maduro or the Cuban Corona Maduro but I keep a decent assortment in my humidor. If I'm out in the woods, I always have a cigar...
I have a winch bumper and 12k pound winch on my XJ. The main reason I have one is I'm almost always by myself. The other reason is my rig is on 31" tires and 2" of lift. The rigs with the 35"+ tires dig deep ruts. That makes some areas rather tricky to get through. So far it hasn't been needed...
I have 4 sets of Wildpeaks on a Samurai, an XJ, a Silverado, and a Suburban. I haven't run into the problems you have, but I do all my own mounting and balancing. I wonder if your tire company doesn't need to calibrate their machine. I have to calibrate mine every 6 months or so.
As for ride...
The South Carolina Adventure Route has a spur that ties into the TAT. It also ties into the GA Traverse. GPX files are here. Home | South Carolina Adventure Route (SCAR)
It will do all the cooking for a weekend on a bottle, but hooking up to a big tank with a hose would be easy. As for cleaning, the grates pop out of it for wipe down.
