Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I use a phone app called Legal Heat. They do a pretty good job of summarizing what you can and can't do as well as tell you which states have reciprocity.
I run one because I don't run a lot of lift or huge tires. The OEM intake on my XJ is only about 28" off the ground. We have mud holes around here that are deeper than that. I bought the cheapest thing that would get the job done. Amazon, under $100.
Today was a long one. New bearing, gears, and Spartan locker installed in the rear axle. I also pitched the old drum brakes in the trash and installed a disk brake conversion.
Setting the backlash.
Nasty old drum brakes.
Shiny new disks.
All buttoned up and ready to roll.
The pre emissions Dodge truck my father drives regularly gets 24+ miles to the gallon and that's with a 5.9L I6 turbo-diesel.
The newer emissions trucks are significantly worse. They upped the displacement to get back the hp and torque lost to the emissions equipment. That knocked the fuel...
Got started on the rear axle only to find out I have the wrong bearing kit. Amazon shipped a D44 kit instead of a Chrysler 8.25 kit. And the locker I ordered is a 29 spline and the axle under the XJ is a 27 spline. That necessitated digging the original axle out of a pile of parts behind the...
Finally got all the parts together for the front axle. 4.11 gears, bearings, seals, u-joints, and LSD installed. Also replaced the front cover with something a little more durable that has a drain plug. It's all fancy now but it shouldn't take long for it to be the same South Carolina clay color...
I have two of them. One 18' plastic, one 16' fiberglass. No clue who they are made by. Both paddle very well. Both bought on Craigslist for under $150.
Well, the plan was to replace a broken U-joint and install an LSD in the front axle. Alas, it will require a gear change from 3.55 to 4.11 so this is as far as I got. It's pretty much ready to go back together as soon as the gear set shows up.
GoPro 4 and 9 for video duty. A Nikon AW120 because it's waterproof, freezeproof, and shockproof while still shooting decent pictures. And my LG V60 phone, mostly because it's handy.
This is my answer as well.
I have had a Fiskars splitting ax and a hatchet for 6-8 years without handle failure and the ax has split piles of firewood. By far the best tools for the job.
FCA US LLC already owns the Cherokee trademark. That trademark is going to be very specific and only related to automobiles but I can promise you that if you built a vehicle and called it a Cherokee, FCA would see you in court before you sold the first one.
Here are several of the trademarks...
