Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
If you keep them rotated, they aren't bad at all. If you don't rotate them religiously they do get noisy. The set on my Silverado have close to 40k on them. I have been lax about rotating them and they are the loudest set I have. They aren't horrible, just noisier than the other sets. The set on...
Put 300 miles on it on the South Carolina Adventure Route.
And almost got it stuck. SC red clay is the worst. Pretty happy with how the rock sliders keep most of the mud under the XJ.
I run Falken Wildpeak ATs on everything from a Samurai to a Suburban, as well as my Silverado and XJ. By far the best AT tire I've ever run. Outstanding on and off road traction and surprisingly quiet if you keep them rotated.
Today the XJ got some rocker protection. I had planned to build a set but found these too cheap to justify the expense and time it would take to weld up my own.
I installed one this fall. It is well sealed against water intrusion from end to end. But my XJ isn't sitting on 6" of lift, it's on 2" and the factory intake was only about 30" off the ground. At least one water crossing on my planned spring trip can be over 30" of water depending on rainfall...

I did the dual battery setup on my XJ with a 100ah AGM battery to run the fridge and such.
You might also look into something like a Jackery or other portable battery system. A Jackery 1000 would run a fridge for several days without charging and can also be charged off the vehicle during the...
