Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
So, I was camping with my 4x4 group, on a very wet weekend. We were all trying to start fire to knock off the morning chill, then Ernie broke out an interesting tool. He brought a battery operated leaf blower(Milwaukee), needless to say in 5 minutes the fire was going nicely. Wet wood wasn't...
I agree with this list. My bad experiences with humans are better left unposted. I've heard a mountain lion's growl, It will make your the hair on the back your neck stand up. Ron
When you are exploring/camping without support you should always be aware of you situation/location. Situational awareness is a must where ever you are. Camping on animal trails, on or very near water sources is not recommended. You should always have a means of defense, some things you can...
I tend to go for non-name brand equipment, with good reviews(I read the reviews in order to sort out the BS from the more normal reviews). I also use equipment rated for more than twice what I'll need. ARB makes a fine product, and also demands the higher price. I don't abuse my equipment, I...
My son is grown, but when he was younger we took him with us. I now camp with friends and we enjoy watching the "discovery" moments of the kids that are around. I don't know if all parks have a naturalist on staff, Tar Hollow state park in Ohio has an EXECELENT naturalist. planned hikes...
When you are using your daily driver for offroad, you have to maintain that additional "VOICE OF REASON". I use the same mind set when I drive my jeep to the trail rides. Ron
I don't like having my vehicle tied to the ground. I use a separate tent and a tent attached to the rear of the trailer. A pop up canopy doesn't take up much space and is very handy when more shelter is needed. Ron
My yj wasn't that hard core, but I focused on reliability and comfort for the long trips. I wasn't interested in down grade my drive train, I'm still running 35" tires and 5.13 gears. For the longer trips I load it and the trailer, strap in, wind it up and settle in for the trip. I get there...
Very nice design. I've been on that trail your avatar pic was taken. Thanks again for coming to the novice ride. Are you going to make the next one? Your rig still looks good, Ron
