Is it possible to win the war on rust?

Surprisingly enough, paint that reforms rust actually works better with some rust. Pressure wash and scrub down with a degreaser before applying. Do not apply when it is too hot. You want the catalytic reaction with the moisture and rust in the pores of the substrate to occur, before the...

Is it possible to win the war on rust?

Having painted cars for almost 50 years I recommend a different paint. It comes from TopSecretCoatings.com. I use the TS-100 Industrial Marine paint. It cures like POR-15 but is UV protected and from what I have seen, more durable. It is a great rust stabilizer, just wear gloves. It is...

    Rocky Mountain National Park Trip

South of the park I can recommend Camp Dick. It costs but is pretty and away from the traffic. West side of the park has some decent camping but all are pay. If you want less Grizwalds, go up the Poudre. Maybe Pengre Park.

    Map books or gps system

If you are heading to Colorado or Moab, I highly recommend maps from Latitude40 in Nederland, CO. They are printed on heavy weight water proof paper in shaded relief color. Besides being accurate, they are so nice I hang them in my office. www.latitude40maps.com I always carry maps. GPS is...

    My home built expedition trailer

With all the horrors I have heard about MOT inspections, I'm surprised you can run adapters.

    GPS/BaroTemp/Roll/Pitch

Nice project. I've been working on something similar but with engine monitoring for Renix era Cherokees. It is RPI based and written in LabVIEW.

    Blood Clotter

We used to have a big bottle of some kind of powder we would buy at the Vet Clinic for use on the cows and horses. It was cheap and worked well on human critters as well.

    Overlanding and Minimalism

The older I get the more minimalist I get....less work, less hassle, less pain. Personally I will save and defer gratification until I can get the right part/toy. I am not in any way impressed by name brands but by quality of design and implementation. In reality, being an engineer and...

    I Want Limb Risers!

Limb risers must be a south or east thing. I have never seen a rig with them on in Colorado.

    Snake Gaiters Co. hiking

Fires are a yearly thing in Colorado. Just keep an ear out and check the local radio every day. Buena Vista is one huge area. You could have a large fire and still have 90% still available. As far as bears go, I have lived and camped across Colorado for 50 years and have only seen a handful...

Your Very First Off Road Experience

My first overlanding was on a horse. I rode alone from our ranch in Walden, Colorado up over the Continental Divide and spend three days knocking around before coming home. I was 12 and that was 1964. Things like that would get someone thrown in jail these days. But when you were raised on...
