Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I actually have an axle designed up and I am starting to fabricate that has steering. I do a lot of real sharp switchbacks and having steering on the trailer would make life a lot easier.
If you are in that tough a spot, you probably shouldn't be limiting your self with a trailer. Backing up on a tough tight trail downhill is a bitch.
If 4wd, lockers, and aggressive tires don't cut it, don't try it.
Personally I don't remember that much about it. I remember it had some fun rocks and ledges on the way. I am all packed and at work. Hope to head our sometime around 4pm and get there no later than 6:00.
Got to stop and get some worms for fishing and maybe some firewood.
There have been tons of mountain lions up by Masonville since the 70's.
The joke around there is...what do you call a dog on a chain in your back yard... a snack.
Head north and then west through Natrona and up the canyon towards St. Elmo. Tons of trails. Personally I like the area up towards Mt. Antero. Check the conditions since there was so much snow and avalanche damage, some trails may be closed or restricted.
Back in the day, I trailed my motocross bike behind my car. I did a hitch with a bolt vertically through it and a piece of pipe the width of the spindle welded across the top. I pulled the front wheel and put the spindle bolt through the tube and tightened it down. Add a couple of tie downs...
Don't get me started with the red head stories. They are definitely exciting...in all of the good ways...and all the bad ways, many times all within milliseconds of eachother.
For wildlife you will want a longer lense. For landscapes, the 18mm is not wide quite enough for here in Colorado and Utah.
A first telephoto zoom might be best to get a roughly 55-200mm plus a 2x extender to keep the price tag down.
A decent tripod (heavy) will be required for the telephoto.
