Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
I ran my KM2's in snow and ice here in Canada. In less than 6" of snow with no ice they were fine, in more than 6" of snow they had a hard time with traction, or so it felt. I know you didn't ask, but in ice they were okay, not the best. All around though, good tire.
As for daily driver, they...
I haven't had any issues yet, but I don't do much crawling and I don't have a lead foot. I'm not going to throw any money at the front axle until it goes kaput, at which point I'll replace it with a D44.
In May of 2014 I purchased a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport S. At this time I wasn’t really familiar with Overlanding nor offroad vehicles. A buddy of mine had purchased a Toyota Tacoma a couple months before and to keep up I upgraded my Compass to a Wrangler. Prior to purchasing my...
Also a good option, the AEV model requires use of their AEV swing carrier I believe. I'm not sure about the Titan. The only downside about this is that you pretty much loose your visibility in the rear without a backup camera.
I love the Rotopax other people are using too.
I plan on getting the AEV fuel caddy for fuel storage, got to love the aftermarket for Jeeps! It sits nicely behind the spare tire and holds 10 gallons.
Like ShawnR, I already changed mine, two of them in fact. It was my bumper/fender combination and wheels. Originally I went with an ARB stubby bumper with MCE fender flares which I didn't like as much as I thought I would a couple of months later. I changed that out for stock flares and an AEV...
Nothing has been severely affected. I was able to complete every obstacle on 35" tires with a 2.5" lift and no lockers were needed with proper driving. The trail was in good condition, any dead fall was cleared about 2 months ago. I'm looking forward to getting back there next August.
For whatever reason, I really like our Nemo tent that was used for hiking and now serves double duty. Sleeps two just fine and it takes up no room in the Jeep.
I think going south without a winch you'd be fine on Whipsaw, as long as you don't get too confident.
If you're going down HWY 5 you could also stop at Murphy Lakes to camp, which I can send you GPX file for. Your rig is more than capable for that and it's a short drive off of the highway.
If you're going south all of the obstacles are downhill, all of them have bypasses. There are some rough sections with no bypasses.
My friends Tacoma needed to winch once, but only because he lost momentum going uphill.
If you have a winch, there is nothing to fear about the trail.
