    AGM battery life?

I don't hate them but I understand that they are not the answer to every problem. I use them because I can get them cheap and they handle the extreme angle and bouncing without venting all over everything.

    AGM battery life?

Personally, I am an engineer with specific experience in commercial/military battery systems. I have run AGMs since they came out. I have found that a well maintained lead acid battery lasts as long if not longer than an AGM. I have been through 5 AGMs in personal vehicles. I find they do...

    Uberlands slow-but-hopefully-steady Excursion build.

While on the surface this may seem logical, it really has to do with where in the power band your are running. Lower gears (higher number) routinely will help mileage on vehicles with taller tires due to getting the rpms where the engine is more efficient if your engine is running too slowly...

    propane tanks

The simplest and safest way is to crack the overflow screw and fill until you start getting liquid out. Rhino even changes this.

    propane tanks

Beware of Blue Rhino tanks. They set them up and only fill them to the 15 lb level instead of the standard 20lb level. So you get 25% less gas. Even when you refill them elsewhere, it will vent at 15lbs from my experience. I grew up on a farm and have used propane/butane for 60 years.

    is low range neccesary?

I always say, the most important accessory for offroad is what is between your ears. I grew up "overlanding" and exploring before 4wd was available or common and it rarely limited me. Now many of those trails are listed as 4wd and high clearance.

    DIY teardrop

Looks familiar except I covered mine in Filon instead of aluminum. I like the side window. I went for dual doors since my wife likes to get up in the middle of the night and so do I. Are you going to leave the aluminum raw or are you going to paint/polish it?

BLM is seeking comment on public land with no legal access

Maybe things have changed in 50 years since we had a 99 year lease on BLM land. I know it was not open back then.

    My teardrop project v1.0

The height of the ones I wanted were well above $250 each. I fabricated them for maybe $30 each. I did all four in an afternoon. So I made all four for about $120 instead of over $1000 to purchase. The threaded rod I used was 1/2" - 10 tpi

    0 - 60 ET's?

    My teardrop project v1.0

The threaded rod was simple acme thread and the nut was an off the shelf standard nut. The struts were uni-strut. You just have to keep them greased.

    My teardrop project v1.0

Check out my thread on my bespoke Bal-C type jacks for a reasonable amount. The problem I found was to the height I wanted, they charged WAY too much.

    National Geographic cd- rom

I might have to buy a copy. I have the map cd and love it. There is an article I want to look up about the couple that did the TransAM in an Amphicar that I would love to look at again. It was the seed of my want to Overland many decades ago.

On board air or portable tank

I have been rock crawling for 50 years. I have run a CO2 setup for 20 years. I love my 20lb CO2 setup. You can find the tanks and regulators fairly cheap these days. I could score a 20lb tank and a fixed point high flow regulator for less than $100. It costs me $18 to refill. I can air my...

BLM is seeking comment on public land with no legal access

Just for information, most of the BLM land in Colorado is under lease by the farmers and ranchers and access is up to the landholder. They pay good money for those leases, so don't blame them for freeloading. We didn't allow access because the public was always trashing everything and shooting...

    Ham radio?

Just because the cable and connector is the same does not mean the antenna will "work" If you learn the info in the test instead of doing a cram session, you will learn that antennas are very frequency specific. CB antennas are designed for 27mhz normally. While that is close to the 10 meter...
