Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Normally I don't have reception when I'm camping in the middle of nowhere. So I'll take screenshot of the weather in the area I'll be staying at for about a week or two, just to get a general idea of what's to come. Mostly, I use to to avoid heat and wind.
As long as fuel stations have diesel, I'm good!
I live on top of a steep hill, so rain wouldn't affect me, but an earthquake or fire would.
I do know where there are natural springs that spit out a little bit of water, so I'll be good with that, but want to learn to trap game someday. I have...
That's neat!
I'm not too knowledgeable on liquors, but once I was at my cousins sons birthday party, and there was an open bar.
I was getting Macallan 12 (neat), and say they had a Macallan 25. Asked for one, he said it's not on the house (was open bar), I said it's fine.
It was so smooth and...
As long as they're not street tires, they should be fine.
Most overlanders that I've seen, only stay on fireroads anyways.
My group, we tend to seek difficult terrain, but we either run AT or Mud, and doesn't seem too important since we're not rock crawling steep rock cliffs or deep mud.
I have...
We have simple rules for group rides.
Keep the group small.
Slowest rigs in the middle so they don't get lost.
We like to keep a slowish pace, minimize dust and enjoy the scenery.
Only group leader uses foward facing offroad lights, so everyone isn't blinded by all the lights.
I use large totes and strap them to the roofrack.
Also I try to minimize what I bring when going camping. I often bring too much stuff and it becomes a mess by the time I come home.
I use travel bags, the mesh kind (so I can see the contents), which help a lot.
I've never heard of that brand, but considered a RTT (decided against it, too many cons).
I have a Rival roofrack, which is a rain gutter mounted rack, but has an optional mount that connects to the roll cage (drilling required).
What I did was, install a 120w panel on my roofrack. Drilled a hole in my hardtop, and plugged into my ecoflow delta 2 or river 2 max.
It's enough to keep the ecoflow topped off, with a 35 or 55 quart alpicool fridge/freezer.
I didn't want it connected to my jeeps battery whatsoever, so I don't...
Inner cargo molle panel.
Love it, helps organize my rear cargo area.
Just bought a hackzall, had to cut a safe off my tow hitch receiver. But I'll bring it on my adventures in case I have to saw some wood.
My buddy has one and it make quick work cutting a trunk in the middle of a trail.
I'm not familiar with the term, but I guess that's the type of camping I do.
I dislike campgrounds.
I only camp in places that are far from other people, hard to get to, and great views.
I've not owned either, but have been passenger in both.
I fell in love with the Ram 2500 black edition.
Feel like the Tahoe would be more kid friendly, but ram is just a more robust vehicle.
Mines not a gazelle, but similar type of tent (pop up), so it's about the same size when folded up.
For now, it fits behind the driver and passenger seat, but plan to secure it to the roofrack (once the rack arrives).
I'm the oldest of 3 siblings.
My parents brought us camping very early on, months old.
We usually camp from a week to a few weeks, but never more than that.
I'll have to look those up!
I'm not a fan of crowded areas, so the less traveled the better.
I'm hoping for some medium to difficult trails, even some technical trails.
I want to do Rubicon trail, but my friends cannot go on that trail in their rigs for sure.
I do that as well.
My mons property has a lot of oak trees and large limbs fall every winter storm, and no shortage of oak firewood.
I soak smaller pieces, and use them for the smoker.
I've actually never heard anyone talk down on alpicools...
I have a dometic fridge, junk. Within a year, the cord barely works. I have to place the power cord in the perfect position otherwise it won't power.
My alpicool survived a rollover accident.
