    Central Canada thread!

Welcome aboard! The hilux surf will be a nice platform to work with! Keep us updated on it's progress. @OverlandXJ more than a few guys it seems are in Regina! Great choice in tires for our climate... I love the Duratracs.

    Jobs: Opinions, please.

I took Conservation and got into the field briefly... only to find out that it would be close to 10 yrs before I get on FULL time. I changed directions slightly. So I can understand the pull towards that...

    Jobs: Opinions, please.

B and C are trades that may benefit your personal life as well... while A may be more rewarding personally. Family? You may want to consider what would benefit your family if you have. ie: is there lots of travelling and being away? / wage + benefits? (benefits are a huge consideration once...

Where did you install your OB emblem?

People can choose their own numbers... IIRC Michael said there were around 1900 members.

Do you keep your jerry cans on your rig all of the time or just when wheeling?

Just on trips. I'm less concerned about someone syphoning the gas than stealing or damaging my expensive rotopax cans.

    Recently purchased Fj cruiser

I would go with a simple suspension lift and toss on some good all-terrain tires (285's) and then get out there. I would not start throwing mods onto the FJ first.... get out and see what you may need first. Like if you are in situations where you may be getting stuck a lot yourself.... look...

    OB Approved Camping with Firearms

Yes. Typically see a few in the area that I camp. It's mostly a really effective noise maker.... and a Plan B if absolutely necessary.

    Recently purchased Fj cruiser

It really depends on what you want to do with it. You can go many places stock.... or outfit it to do some hardcore rock crawling.... and/or anything in between. Give us an idea of what "going on some adventures" means to you. Congrats btw and welcome! :sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

Who Planted the seed for you to be an OverLander (Pic/stories)

@Michael... true strength has nothing to do with being knocked down, everyone gets knocked down, it's about getting back up... and you have accomplished that wonderfully by the looks of it.

    scan tools

Luckily mine sits almost flush with the dash plastic on the FJ by my left knee... it's been in there for about a year now with no issue.

    scan tools

I use the same one and torque too.... if anyone is interested in this one just make sure you don't get the cheap chinese knockoff dongle.... I got one of those. It worked once and then was a paperweight. Then I spent a bit more and got the BAFX one.

How to Start a Fire - Collected Wisdom

My old man used to have a tobacco tin with sawdust in it.... soaked in kerosene. Worked great.

What Trail Condition Do You Fear The Most?

Failed ascent where I have to back down... and if I don't do it straight and under control I would likely roll. Off camber can definitely be sketchy too. Then there's nothing worse than hearing that "crunch" and looking out that side mirror that you hadn't glanced at in the last 5 seconds and...

    Vehicular Hypochondria

Get used to the usual sounds and feels of the vehicle... how it drives, etc. You will then know when something is "off" and you need to stop and investigate. Crawling through a tight, tough trail pulling my trailer with 2 quads and piles of camping gear I hear all kinds of squeaks, groans and...
