Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
On August 11th/12th I set out on a nice little trip through Souther Utah/ Northern Arizona.
Day one
I was living on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon so the first day I made my way to Boulder Utah via 89a/89 and hwy 12. I made good time to Boulder so I continued on 12 to 24 and went into...
Ive been interested in one of these. They look like a quality product. I like the simple design. Looks like it assembles easy and requires little upkeep. Its just not in my budget right now. Wants vs needs stuff.
If i was still on the road all the time i could justify needing one hahaha.
I think id stick with an xterra id use the money to learn more about auto repair and maintenance. Also how to weld and other useful skills to build the rig up. I have always wanted to do a trailer build too. There are a lot of great manufactures and fabricators out there, but doing something...
Nice!
When im on a long roadtrip i like to keep some cash in my pocket so if i ever get mugged and need to hand over my wallet i still have some money. I also keep some hidden in the truck. Which reminds me. I need to replenish that!
I like to use a two ground pads and a mummy bag
A cheap foam pad on bottom helps take out some rocks or roughness in the ground and then a self inflating camp pad is the second layer. Its slim enough that its not squishy so i don't have issues rolling off of it. Its like having a boxspring and...
I carry concealed ( AZ CCW) its just part of my life now. I try to switch up my carry methods and training based on clothing. I rarely carry open unless I'm at camp or out shooting.
Sometimes ill keep a rifle and some gear with me if im on a long trip or for shooting. Ive considered getting a...
You can find some in the Visitor Centers/ Ranger Stations or in Concession run Gift Shops
I sometime end up with more than one patch from a place because ill find one i like better in another shop.
The nice thing is a lot of places have similar style patches so you can find some that sort of match.
In my cabin i started using cinnamon. Sprinkled it around the edges of the carpet and behind furniture. Been rodent free ever since. I just freshen it up once a month. Its noticible but you can sprinkle it in places where it might not be an issue.
My last few adventures. All iphone pics!

My friend named my rig " ripley" like in the alien movies. For being "ready for intense prolonged sequences of disaster and peril" I didn't really have an argument at the time so it stuck.
I like to organize my patches. Left side morale patches. Right side are places i have been, mostly national parks
In the center i keep my WEMT patches
Here is the right side!
I use Roto Pax. I went with them because i like the way they mounted securely, It gave me more options on placement. And they are pretty rugged and dont dent and rust as easy as some jerry cans i have used in the past. I have 2 2 gal one on my roof rack. Its not much but its also light and easy...
A few years ago, A Buddy and I went to an old town site on the Paria River in Southern Utah. On the way back we decided to take an old route back to town. It looked like an wagon trail more than a road, but i had driven it before and knew where it connected to better roads. Parts of the road had...
I like to use a Gerber Suspension when i go fishing. Its easy to rinse and dry with its open design and not to pricey if i loose it in the water.
I also like the Leatherman OHT a lot. The one i use the most is the leatherman supertool 300. Its got decent size blades and tools and can take a...
Great gear lists and suggestions everyone! Besides gear i would suggest training. Wilderness First Responder (WFR)Courses are helpful for the back country or everyday life. Other subjects i always try to learn more about; Firearms safety and handling, communications and signaling, Food...
