  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

US West Coyote Flats Multi-Day Trip

We’ll be on the road this time next week! I’m really looking forward to this trip! The weather forecast shows 106 degrees in Lone Pine next Thursday, it’s going to be a warm drive up the 395!

Looking to start overlanding. Can I do it with my new SR5?

I’m going out in a stock 1985 4Runner, and it’s not even a SR5, it’s a DLX. On a side note the original meaning of the SR5 option back in the 70’s was Sport Rally 5 speed. It was an option on pickups and celicas.

Thanks for a fun day everyone! That was a nice easy trail, with great scenery. I’ll have to go back and explore the area more.

    Tacoma or 4Runner?

I have older versions of both, 1985 4Runner, and 1980 pickup, and prefer the 4Runner. More room, and much more comfortable. I sleep inside both, but it’s nicer being able to access the driver’s controls from the sleeping area, or being able to go from the bed to the driver’s seat without having...

    Sleeping bags

I’ve had a couple of Big Agnes bags since about 2002, and they are still great. The original sleeping pad I had developed a leak in 2019, and when I sent it back to Big Agnes to be repaired, they sent a new one at no charge to me. I didn’t expect that! Their customer service is top notch, as are...

Looks cold! Where did you go? I was in the Mojave this past weekend, probably the last desert trip of the season, so I’m looking for some good warm weather places to go.

    Yes Highland, I stand corrected.

US West Valley of the Moon

The valley of the moon trip was in March, there’s a new thread for the current trip, which is the City Creek trail. We’re meeting in Upland, at 8:00 am Saturday, so that should be a lot closer for you. Hope to see you there!

    What's Happening?

Not the app. My bookmark to the overland bound website brings me to a different page. Maybe I became logged off, but if so, I can’t find how to log back in.

Get Started With What You Have

I miss the old Lifestyle Overland, when they were about the adventure of overlanding, instead of the current Lifestyle Overland that seems to be all about “look at the new overland stuff we just got!”. Adventure over gear all day, every day! That being said, I’m out adventuring in either a 40...

    What's Happening?

I’m not a fan of the new website either. Much harder to navigate.
