Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Nice!
I was looking at something similar. There are a ton of variations on the theme available on Amazon. It's a matter of finding the best price, I think. I can't seem to get the link to work, unfortunately :(
How do you like that canopy? I was seriously looking at a very similar one from Amazon. My latest expedition convinced me that my 10x10 pop up canopy is just way too dang heavy and bulky for overlanding.
Thank you, kindly! It was great to get out for a little drive. Also, I was greatly relieved that the battery seems to be none the worse for wear, as it's an almost brand new AGM. I really wasn't looking forward to replacing it.
Jump started it because I accidentally left the CB radio just barely in the on position, and sometime during my three weeks in hospital, the battery went flat as a pancake lol It started up first try and I drove around for about an hour and a half, so hopefully all good now.
I can address this to a certain extent from personal experience, because I own an RD1 CR-V, and the RT4wd in the element is nearly identical, but better in several respects. Just the upgraded version. In fact, I plan to drop in the rear diff unit from an Element as an upgrade to my CR-V when I...
Those dry sacks are perfect for making bear caches when in bear country, which for me is almost anywhere I could go adventuring. The rolled handle helps reduce the smell signature and gives a spot to tie the line for stringing it up.
Hip hop/rap is probably the one type of "music" I absolutely cannot tolerate. I can manage to enjoy just about anything else.
Rap? No. To each his own, though, of course.
Mostly my playlist when off on adventures tends to be traditional Irish and Scottish tunes a collection of sea shanties and other maritime music, and golden oldies, although my taste in music is very eclectic and there are even things like Andrea Bocceli thrown in now and then.
One band I...
I've been to LA. It was a horrible place, especially with regard to driving and parking. You couldn't pay me enough to live in a van in LA.
I agree with you as well, isn't the whole point of "vanlife" to be totally free to drive around and visit new and interesting places? Why on earth would...
Unfortunately it's a trim level and not a new vehicle, and currently I don't think they have all that much to build on. It's hard to say though. I can tell you that people often underestimate what my RD1 CR-V can do, but then again, it hails from Honda's golden age, and Land Rover had a hand in...
Hey, that's awesome news. I have to say, I wasn't relying heavily on the app on this trip, but I did refer to it several times, and it was on the money every time. I'm excited to see how it turns out!
Great to know the website map will be the same, because the accuracy is excellent.
Hello fellow OB members!
I recently completed another expedition, this time through northwest BC between Telkwa and Prince Rupert, and during our adventure, we hit a snag trying to get to what is likely a jaw dropping camp site on the shores of Kildala arm.
Along Gitsekan forest road, there is...
Up here we call it BC Pinstriping. There are a TON of uber narrow, overgrown tracks up here in the wilds of BC. It's the price you pay for exploring the awesome wilderness. Most guys see it as a badge of honor - it shows you use your 4x4 for what it was built for :)
Here's a nice example of the...
That's a really tough one. You would have to basically remove the tranny and completely disassemble it just to get at it. I considered re-gearing my V in the same way but concluded it was cost and effort prohibitive.
