  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Spring is coming, how many buying new tires?

New tires! Yup I looked at them all. I want to save my winter tires for winter so will be picking up a set of AT on/off road rubber. In looking at the reviews I decided to go with a set of Motomaster (Canadian Tire brand) AT3 tires. They look very similar to another popular off road brand name...

    Overland/emergency prep...

You are dead right when connecting overlanding to being somewhat of a prepper! Our personal rigs allow us to get out of Dodge in less than 1/2 and hour. And like several others that commented we too are seeing more reasons to prep. Up here in Alberta we have had severe floods in 2005 and 2013...

    Weekend Get a Way

The wife had a long break so we decided to take a bit of a spring break and make a run through the mountains. Weather has been less than spring like here so going over the parkway highway is always a risk. I geared up the Tacoma and off to the Radium Hot Springs. The pictures tell the story -...

    WD40 and water crossings

WD40 has a lot of uses and one that might surprise people is a use in the campground industry. A partner and I manage campgrounds and we use WD40 to spray on the inside of the outhouse toilets. It displaces more than water and helps keep the fiberglass toilets cleaner and easier to clean...

    ATV's and Overlanding ....

ATVing is big in our area. On public land which is most of Alberta there are few limitations so day trips or long distant weekenders are common. Some challenging trails in the mountains and muskeg areas so you need to be prepared and you learn a lot about recovery and winching techniques.

Trotter - hmmm we may have to talk! Answers to your questions - spares/parts - we have never encountered any major issues on the roads - mostly paved and good grade gravel roads. Whitehorse is well serviced. So is northern BC when it comes to parts/tires given all the oilfield activity. What to...

    Overland bound International Rescue

I think the SOS idea is great too. But there are a few other considerations too. First in your trip planning - take a look at the member map and note members along a segment of the route that offer the help. Use the trip forms or your own ledger to note who is local - Part of trip planning...
