How is coiled Coax bad? The ARRL antenna book specifically says to coil apx 2m of coax to form an Ugly Choke for 2m/70cm (and as we know GMRS is just outside of the 70cm band).

I guess it depends where you are at. Out here in the PNW we camp all year round… head to the high elevations during the heat of the summer where daytime temps run in the 90’s and lows run in the 40-40’s. Then head to low elevation when daytime temperatures start to hover in the 60’s and lower.

It’s a good antenna, but. It as good as the Comet listed above.

My dad had a 1968 Scout 800 with the tire mounted up front… it looked awesome, but you couldn’t see the trail over the tire very well.
