I don’t think I have ever seen a Liberty kitted out in armor that wasn’t a one off job.

First shot is your most accurate shot… fallow up with a round of buck shot in case you missed with the first. Then final tap with the last slug.

I’ll agree mostly… money spent on a good antenna and great coax is more important than quality of radio… to an extent, especially when talking GMRS for Convoy use… but for ECOM and SHTF the receiver finals need to be a lot better to reject u wanted signals, and the transmitter needs better...

    The Tri-Cities Clubhouse

Either one will work… low carbon is going to rust quicker, but can be powder coated or pained to minimize oxidation… where as galvanized will rust and there isn’t much of anything you can do to prevent it.

Midland has a 50 watt radio, the MXT-575. Wouxun has the KG-1000G also a full 50 watt GMRS radio. Rugged has a 45 Watt mobile Radio (GMR45). Btech (subsidy of Baofeng) has the GMRS-50x1 50 watt GMRS mobile transceiver. These are the top four mobile GMRS transceivers that operate at or close...

    Decisions

Since both the Excursion and F250 share the same 3/4 platform… if the body is in better shape on the Excursion build it… take the best parts of both trucks to make one truck. The reason I suggest the Excursion over the F250 is comfort and ease/cost of build. In stock form all that you would...

Pre running the trail or sections of trail, or buying route maps from the organization that built the route are the two easiest ways to find camp sites while pre planning. Typically when I build a route from linking together roads I look for camp sites that are marked on the NFS and BLM maps...

    Spare tire(s) placement

I only run one spare tire, and I have only needed to change a tire once on the trail… had I not been running street slicks (18 and dumb) I wouldn’t have even had to change that tire.

That is where APRS comes in… I have several APRS transmitters that I have built and distribute on long journeys like this. I make sure the lead vehicle and tail vehicle have someone with an amateur radio license and a device capable of seeing APRS position reports. In the event a rig gets...

My understanding of the Ghost Antennas is they are more or less a dummy load any ways.

    New Communications!

Well I see your problem plain as day… your antenna is too low, and too close to surrounding metal… the base of the antenna needs to be higher than any surrounding mount… @JL Lou used a similar antenna and mounted it to his roll cage as high as he could and has very decent results… reason being…...

I need your help! Choosing a mobile unit: MXT575 VS KG-1000G

VHF and UHF in the 2m and 70cm bands are very close in wavelength and have zero relevance between the two bands for propagation under 75 miles regardless of terrain and vegetation. we run a weekly emergency QRP (under 10 watts FM/SSB) exercise on both 2m and 70 cm and get consistent results up...

    New Communications!

2.6 SWR is definitely not Coax related… either antenna placement or poor ground connection of the antenna as the Ghost antenna is a severely compromised antenna. It is basically a coil of wire wound to give resonance near GMRS frequencies. For best mobile applications look for a 5/8 wave...
