So there you are, you just set up camp, cracked open a celebratory beverage to enjoy as you stare off into the majestic scenery surrounding you when all of sudden you hear "@$!#"!! It came from one of your travel partners who was cutting up limes for their drink. When you get over to them...
Hello Everyone!!
One of the visions I had for this section was to put out practice scenarios for everyone to work through. It gives the opportunity for us to practice what we have learned, learn from others, and for those without any training, the opportunity to get familiar with what can...
ColdFajitas, FireMedicPQ1, and smritte,
Thanks for jumping in!! As the medical ambassador for OB I welcome and appreciate all the help!! There is a section in the Boot Camp area which deals with first aid, kits and equipment, and will have videos related to the use of gear, basic and advanced...
Just going to throw this out there: the powders can be very difficult to remove in the operating room, sometimes causing more harm to remove than the original injury. I prefer the gauze for this reason and it’s what I use in the OR and in the field. Not to knock the effort of making your own.
Not an expert but have done a lot of wiring of multiple systems on my truck. I’m pretty sure you don’t want to wire the usb and the cig charger together if you want one to charge and the other to power the USB ports. I’m sure it will work but may not be the best way. Also, there should be some...
My 2 cents:
Gotta go sliders and tires first. My wife let me trick out her 2013 LR4 and after going with the Nitto tires bc they fit the 20in rims and it was still her daily driver (we got 62k miles out of them) I went compos and ko2’s and couldn’t be happier. The sliders are a must to protect...
For heart attacks/MI the mnemonic is M.O.N.A.(B) for Morphine, Oxygen, Nitroglycerin, Aspirin and the B is for Beta Blocker. Realistically if you have a MI that requires an AED and are way out in the bush your chances of surviving are very low. If you are just having chest pains and not a...
Used unit that was working just fine. Went a different direction on a rebuild. Comes with what you see plus some wires and fuse holders
“Intelligent” Solenoid
Fuses (recommend using circuit breakers)
Some heavy gauge wires
Control unit with mount.
Shipping not included. Located in Livermore CA.
@KSTrekker
Do you have sliders? I ask because I’ve been working w Safe Jack to figure out the best way to lift the LR3/4s using their jack. I have sliders (not my truck in the pic) and it makes a world of difference as there are multiple areas for the jack and stand to make contact. Without...
@KSTrekker
I think you will really like the safe jack. I’ve been using one for a few years. I got the axle stand to go with it because the LR4’s air suspension reacts to the lifting and the bottle jack alone isn’t tall enough. I use the axle stand to support the truck while I add extensions to...
@JackP
Ah I see your Schwartz is as big as mine!!
Yes the 4th/5th intercostal space is a superior location for needle decompression and what I will be demonstrating. I agree though, just try! When people are dying try anything. Little secret, we get to that point sometimes and the crazy...
@JackP
Totally agree that carrying certain items makes sense, even if you don’t know how to use them. I’m making a list of things to make videos for so that people are at least familiar with certain items. My only comment are the decompression needles. The proper ones are expensive and are not...
I’m working on getting some videos on this topic out in the near future. Working with OB 0000 to create content for everyone, everywhere. There will be local classes in the SF Bay Area as well. Head over to the First Aid section in the Bootcamp area and watch for new posts.

I love that card. We teach the Airway, Breathing Circulation in ATLS but the TCCC (Military Tactical Combat Casualty Care) recognized that massive bleeding was a primary cause of death due to the transport times from the battlefield to the treatment areas. Then airway...
In regards to the Good Samaritan Law of California the law does protect bystanders who try to provide aid at the scene of an emergency. There was a case that lead to a rewrite of the law when a bystander pulled a victim from a car and the victim was paralyzed. At the time of law suit, the...

Here are my lists of recommended gear and equipment to carry in each of the 3 types of first aid kits I use. You can print out the PDF for reference. The 3 kits I recommend everyone carry can be combined into one large kit but I find that it makes it harder to locate the one thing you are...
