Know your limitations. Invest in a little bit of recovery gear like a shovel and traction boards. You're going to need an air compressor so that you could air your tires down and air backup. Stick to maintained fire roads.

Update. My sliders are still sitting on the side of the house. I spent the last few months searching for a first gen 4x4 tundra. Not much luck. The market is extremely overpriced right now. Think I'm going back to my original plan and putting it Detroit truetrac limited slip differential in my...
I picked mine up for $80 used last week. It's sturdy and strong. Sets up quick. I got the aluminum so it's light. I'll be using this to hold drinks, water, etc. I usually cook and prep food on my tailgate. For camping trips with my pop up trailer this probably won't be used. My trailer has a...
Yeah they all have set up rigs with winches. I think the way we are going is downhill so hopefully I don't have to use any of that. Just take it slow and easy
Okay so steele pass is doable in 2 wheel drive? LOL. I'm going with a group and they said I will be fine going down Lippincott road, to the hot springs in saline Valley, and then out Steele pass to eureka dunes. Does that sound doable? I'm in a lifted 2 wheel drive Tacoma with sliders
Great job out there! Definitely sounds exhausting but fulfilling. Good for the soul. How's the road conditions? Any deep sand? Wanna take my 2wd Tacoma out soon
Thanks for the information and I'll keep you on mind. I've done a few of the touristy things in DV, but this fall I want to get my 2wd modified Tacoma into some dirt out there and explore the Backcountry a bit. Nothing too crazy, but definitely need to see more of what DV has to offer. Locker...
Gazelle tent for full family or back of the truck if only two of us. Climbing up and down that later doesn't sound good. Especially with my German shepherd. The ease of setup of the gazelle tent makes all the difference. And it'll save you thousands
Lots of good info in this thread! Recovery gear and tires are hugely important. Thinking about adding a Detroit truetrac limited slip to my truck instead of a locker. Thoughts?
No not yet. But the limited slip differential works great. My truck is lifted so I'm pretty high off the ground. Not too worried about that. These sliders are angled up 15 degrees too. Tucked in nicely. I'll post a pic when I get them on. I see your concern though. Definitely a possibility...
