I used this new kitchen setup on a trip to the Mendocino National Forest two weeks ago and it worked great. It is much easier to access items than in my previous setup. One upgrade I want to make is to add a separator between the cutlery and the cooking utensils, I had a temporary one in place...
Last I checked Bowman Road was closed at the intersection of 17/18 due to snow. It's not clear to me if this is coming from the south or the east.

The new set I bought are made by US Jack. They offer several different sizes of jack stands, are a military supplier, and get good reviews on sites like garagejournal.com.
I've heard that many medications are still effective well after their expiration date if they are stored in a cool dry location. That said, if they are in a first aid kit stored in a vehicle then the fluctuations of heat and humidity are probably not an ideal situation for keeping medicines "fresh".
Woah, I almost bought a pair of these a month or two ago since I needed taller jack stands they were well reviewed on multiple sites. Instead I ended up buying a pair of US made stands with a higher rating and a double locking setup, glad I did. Thanks for posting about the recall.
Our process is to first attempt to minimize how much gets dirty during any given meal. We collect all these items in a plastic dish tub.
When it is time to do the dishes any remaining solid food is scraped off or wiped up with a paper towel and put in the garbage or fire (if we have one).
Then...
For the first couple of trips when my kid was under 3 we brought an inflatable travel bed with side bolsters to keep her "contained". Since then she's had her own inflatable camping pad and my wife and I put her between the two of us.
The issue we ran into is that like most kids she is a very...
We've been pretty happy with our T4 so far.
Good
+ Very quick to setup.
+ Seems durable.
+ Spacious inside.
+ Floor is removable so you can easily clean out dirt.
Not so good
- Large packed size makes it tricky to fit in the truck.
- Doors are not flat on the bottom and it's easy to get...
Here's the Akro-Mils box I started with. As you can see it was very densely packed, which meant that I had to unload a lot of loose items to get the stove out. This is a pain when camping, especially if you don't have a clean surface to set everything on.
The Plano 1719 is about the same...
For the past 15 years or so I've used an Akro-Mils box with a split folding top to hold my cooking gear. It nests into the back of my 4Runner perfectly and has held up to hundreds of miles of dirt roads and dozens of trips, but I've never been completely happy with it since the lid does not seal...
Interestingly, when camping a lot of your heat is lost to the ground through conduction so the R value of your sleeping pad becomes really important.

Several people have recommended Sea to Summit. Is there a specific product that you like such as the Delta bowls or X-Bowl?

@William C aka “The Claw” those Joseph Jones nesting bowls are pretty nice, too bad the...
There are many people who have done true "overlanding" all around the world in old used cars (not 4x4s) and on a very tight budget. Unfortunately Instagram and other sites make it look like you need to spend a lot of money and overbuild your truck, but you don't.
It all depends on what your...
I've slept in the truck using this setup down to about 17F. It was definitely cold, but given that the glass windows aren't a great insulator I don't think the vents were a big contributor. That said, it would be interesting to test it out. My main goal was to reduce condensation and make sure...
Based on the chart 100A is at the high end of what 4AWG can support for short wire lengths, but should be fine. It sounds like you already have wire of that size, which is great, so I'd recommend going with either an 80A or 100A breaker depending on how much power you need. The picture in post...
Thanks for the replies, I'm amazed nobody has suggested Snow Peak titanium bowls yet. :)
Our current setup is similar to some of the above... inexpensive metal flatware and plastic plates and bowls from Target. At one point I had a set of nice lightweight plastic silverware, but people kept...
