    2019 Tradesman Power Wagon

So what's the major difference between the Tradesman and the regular Power Wagon?

    Amber chase lights

I like the Baja Designs S1, but they don't have a strobe feature that I'm aware of, but they are small, bright, and built well. And at $200 they aren't cheap, but they won't break the bank, either. They're a high quality light, though, not some Chinese knock-off, and priced accordingly. I don't...

Added more desert pin striping to the big girl.

    Let's Talk Cast Iron

How is everyone storing their cast iron in their vehicle while travelling? I just bought a few pieces and I'm a bit worried about scratching and dinging them while bouncing around off road. I was thinking about creating a storage container using a pelican case or similar. What are you all doing...

    Heavy duty suspension

You need spring rates to match the weight of your rig. If the springs are a more appropriate rate you won't blow out shocks. I'd weigh the jeep (get the weight of each corner if possible) and relay that information to Rubicon Express and see what they recommend.

2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon Build

I think with 37" tires and larger a compressor just isn't a practical solution, even the double ARB. I have onboard air with a 1 gal tank to operate my exhaust brake (5.9L Cummins) and fill my Carli long travel bags but I'd rather drive on the highway with low tires than wait for the air system...

What are you using to mapping your journey and navigating your route?

I’m not keen on subscribing to a GPS mapping service so I have not tried it myself but I hear it’s pretty good. I plan on getting out more this year so I may just bite the bullet and give it a try.

    Radio

When you guys say HAM, to what frequency range are you referring? I originally set up my truck to chase for off road racing so I mounted a modded Icom ic-v8000 2m (VHF I think?) radio. Recently I picked up (3) BaoFeng BF-F8HP handhelds for out-of-truck communications. The BaoFeng are dual band...

What are you using to mapping your journey and navigating your route?

When out of my truck I have a Garmin GPSMAP 60Cx (just an older generation of what you have there). I also have an old cell phone I use as a dedicated GPS. Either will do the job. Let me add that my old cell phone is the main GPS on my dual sport motorcycle and the Garmin serves as backup...

What are you using to mapping your journey and navigating your route?

Lowrance made it easy to permanently mount their GPS. I really like using them out on the trails. I live in CA and I've had my GPS sitting on the dash for more than a decade, and I've had my fair share of speeding tickets, and not once has an officer given me any flack over it. And it's not...

What are you using to mapping your journey and navigating your route?

Sorry, I should have made it known but that's not my rig. I dug up that picture just to illustrate how these GPS are typically installed in an off road and race environment to show why the use of an external antenna may be necessary. Mine just happens to be viewable from the sky and a picture...

What are you using to mapping your journey and navigating your route?

And that usually works great. Sometimes, though, you decide to mount your GPS in the dash like your radio:

    Lp4’s arrived

Nice! I love my BD lights. Just put (4) LP6s on the front of my truck and they rock!
