2019 Tradesman Power wagon. Tow rig/overland rig. We have added an ARV overland campershell, and built some storage into the bed. 4 days ago I installed some White Knuckle Offroad sliders (really great quality).

Thank you very much, its the only tradesmen powerwagon i have ever seen in that color. I found it at a dealer in Fargo North Dakota, They like to order powerwagons in low volume colors. They had a Gecko green one and a safety yellow one back when I bought mine.

A Powerwagon trim can not be had in the low volume colors.

That is the blessing of the Tradesman with Powerwagon Package. You can option the low volume colors

The 75 anniversary edition can be had in orange though. But it loses the floor shift transfer case...but it does give the laramie interior and center console.

I didnt know that about the power wagon colors. I wanted to go with the tradesman wagon because it was so inexpensive compared to all other trucks, but knowing the thing about the color just adds to the reason to go tradesman. Btw the tradesman pw in limited colors are mid to low 40s if anyone was wondering if they should get one.

The only difference is content of the truck.

The Powerwagon is a trim. Like Bighorn Laramie Limited.

The tradesman is of course the fleet trim. It can be optioned up pretty good though.

The Powerwagon Trim just gets you different seats. The grille and Macho Graphics. It allows you to get the few items the Tradesman can not. Like 12 inch screen and a few other doodads.

The tradesman can now be had with the 8.4 inch screen and the towing technology groups.

This is what seperates a Powerwagon or tradesman with Powerwagon package from a regular 2500

So what's the major difference between the Tradesman and the regular Power Wagon?

Most simply put a "Power Wagon" is available two ways.

As an equipment group purely adding functionality and only available on Tradesman.

And as a trim level, which add a bunch of creature comfort and technology items, but no additional functionality.

Yeah, to me that isn't a third option, it is just additional gadgetry added to the same Power Wagon trim.

A 3rd option in my opinion would be a Power Wagon equipment package on another trim package like a Big Horn or Laramie or whatever.

One of the things that kept me from ordering a Power Wagon trim level is that the ONLY monotone paint color available in PW trim is black (the worst possible color for off road use). Everything else has the black painted skirt, which to me looks like a rust belt truck somebody took a can of spray paint to. If I could have ordered a PW trim in the same Olive green and got it without that I would have.

FTR there are also level one and two Tradesman equipment groups, but there is still only one Tradesman. I see the PW level one and two the same way.

The Tradesman is a 60/40 not a bench.

The entire premise of the thread on the outdoorsmaniis fflawed . You simply can't get the articulation without changing spring rates, disconnecting the sway bar etc. He's wanting his cake and eat it too.

I didn't read the entire linked thread in fact very little of it as it looked to me like they want a PW that retains the 10k rating which just isn't possible. I understand what you're saying and it probably has a market although I don't know if it has enough market to justify it.

The outdoorsman package really didnt offer anything for the Outdoorsman. It just gave a bundle of options at a lower price and some different color bumpers and grille.

They offer the offroad package which for the 5th Gen includes the eLocker...but still does not on the HeftyDuty.

The purpose of my proposal is that they could reoffer the Outdoorsman trim. But give it some meat.

It isnt another Powerwagon. It is another trim. One that they had already offered.

Ultimately it would be the competiton for the Ford Tremor.

The Powerwagon Trim and package only come on a crew cab 6foot bed.

The outdoorsman would be offered on regular cab and crew 8 foot bed, also.

This would give the slide in camper crowd the lockers and winch. And it could even be offered on the 3500 at a different GVWR as the front axle is light on axle rating...but the rear is about the same.

But I realize this is a mute point as the original point was missed

When the Powerwagon came out in O6 you could get it in a regular cab. Since it came back on the 4th Gen you could not.

The one thing you have to watch for is optioning the Tradesman. Many have gotten the Trim for cheaper...and the package can end up heavier than the Trim. Alot of times dealers do not have as much room on the package and the Trim can be discounted more.

I understand and agree with that largely. Interestingly you can get a rear locker in a 1500 Tradesman, but not the 2500. I'm trading a 2016 Tradesman 4x4 6.4L on the PW, and honestly the conventional Tradesman without a locker, but with adequate tires is a very capable vehicle.

Ford has selectable rear locker in their F250, I really don't know why Ram doesn't.

I will say that the slide in camper thing is a very regional thing for the most part and doubt that is a strong enough motivator in itself, and 8 foot beds are seemingly in the minority these day. I never had a "short bed" until I bought the 2016, but I love it and wouldn't even consider an 8 foot crew cab truck.
