Hello from another Kalamazooian! Is that way we are? Kalamazooians?
You can download PDFs of Motor Vehicle use maps on the USDA Forest Service Sites. Granted these are for National Forests. I then put them in Photoshop and drew a 1 mile ring around camp grounds so I knew where I couldn't...
That might be the only way I'd have a tonneau cover is with one of those racks that work with the cover. Caps just don't work for me and my truck uses. If camping became more common thing for me (I'm trying to make it that way) I could see having a tonneau for keeping things dry for camping...
Too each their own I guess........I think caps are silly, same with tonneau covers but that's because I've always used my trucks like a truck. I don't have any of it right now; cap, cover, rack, RTT or otherwise. Been debating a RTT and it would be on a rack. Would install a hoist in the...
I might be of a different mindset if we had trails here. Unless I want to drive 7+ hours to the UP ours are nothing more than lightly used to overgrown two tracks through the woods. So I don't have a need for a lot of tech out in front of me.
Been watching that fire (online myself).........major suck! Dad lives Apache, sister in Mesa and is up visiting.......not because of concern for their homes, just because. Plus my daughter and I were just hiking up that way in April on Peralta up to Lone Tree.
I use a center counsel mount and holder from ProClipUSA because it's down and outta the way. It mounts on the left edge of the center console. But I see they only offer one dash mount for a 2010 Wrangler. All the other places in my truck don't seem like a good spot for me. Vent ones block...
My dad, sister and niece are in town from Arizona for a month. My niece has never camped......tent, trailer, or otherwise and probably never will at least while living with her parents. So I asked my daughters if they'd wanna do a camp out in the back yard with my niece. Up went the Clam...
Depending on how eager you are........you could possibly wait until REI does their October 20% off one item sale. Spend the $20 on their lifetime membership, get the 20% off. Then come next spring you have a 5% dividend on that purchase towards anything in the store. Get the REI credit card...
I still say.......Chevy designers, when designing the front end of the 2019 Silverado, called up Dodge designer and said "Come on over and F ours up too!"
Replaced mine on my 2015 SIlverado with LEDs. Replaced the cargo light too and installed a diode that turns the cargo lights on when reversing. Super bright! Way better than factory. Just installed a LED license plate mount back up light. Talk about blinding!
How much do you cut back on the trails as you go through? I don't mind the little wispy leaf stuff, etc. Just don't want to be removing paint. I usually get out and cut stuff back.
This is my second Silverado (18 yrs with my 99). It's all I've ever known, truck wise. Dad always had them. It's just nice to have a full size truck......if I need to haul something, etc which I do use them for........rather than just jacking up and looking pretty. Gas mileage isn't so much...
Finally installed my VLED LPR Reverse Light that mounts with the license plate. Now with the 2 LED's in the reverse lights, 2 Cargo Lamp LED's that come on with the reverse lights (via diode)........I can light up half the county. TALK ABOUT LIGHT!
Just got it yesterday, but haven't tried it yet............the Clam Escape with all the walls, rainfly and floor. Wanted it for rain mostly so a few wall panels would be nice. Said the heck with it and got the whole set. Should come in handy with all the darn skeeters here too!
My downfall was hiking both days before. First day was an easy sunset hike, but I did Praying Hands the day before. They said my electrolytes were probably all jacked.
And yes....Siphon Draw to Flatiron is no joke. My daughter, her boyfriend and I did it several Christmas ago. Well they did...
I agree! Since I end up camping alone and in spots with no cell service it's good insurance. Not that there is any crazy hiking in the lower Peninsula of Michigan.............but after my AZ helicopter rescue I've been thinking about it again. Haven't done it yet though.
Mine was on April 3. I'm from Michigan. Dad lives in Apache Junction right where it turns from highway into divided. My sister lives in Mesa out by the old GM Test Track.
We went up Peralta to Lone Tree and then decided to come down Cave Trail which was the down fall. Wasn't bad until you...
