Thank you, sometimes you got to get creative to get out of a sticky situation, figured it was worth sharing.

Overlanding with disability & gear recommendations

Look for the quick pitch tents that Colman makes, they are easy to set up, I think Costco has them, not the best all weather tents, but it’s a start.

    Self recover tip.

I was out solo yesterday, checking on a firewood spot, and stupid me had zero recovery gear, so of course I got stuck. The mud was slick so I ended up off the line I was trying to take, ended up scraping the front diff on a big rock, and the rear diff was going to hang up on it. It looked clear...

Another tip, depending of age, give them a GoPro or some way of filming them selves, tell them to show people the area and describe the area. We just go back from a couple night trip, my six year old daughter loved it, here’s what she had to say.

    Preferred way to cook?

I prefer over the fire, I use a jet boil for coffee in the morning.

    Camping with kids

Get them to help set up camp and around camp, let them explore, as long as your in a spot where it’s safe, let them get dirty, teach them about nature. Start them early and they will love it and always want to learn more about it.

    Any members near Clinton BC?

We actually did a trip out through pemberton, we had planned on doing the Hurley, it still had tons on snow on it, but we all had 35’s and winches. Then we found out there wasn’t fuel in goldbridge at that time, so we decided that was not the best plan, so we took the high line road out of...

At one time you could have run from sooke to port hardy all by gravel, but with gates going up and roads being deactivated you no longer can. You can still do a ton of it though, I think you can still do Campbell River to Port Hardy off road.

Winter camp out in Valemount BC.

I took my son out for a winter camp out at yellow jacket rec site on Kinbasket lake just south of Valemount BC. It was forecast to hit as low as -40 with the wind chill so I made sure to pack lots of warm blankets, I had -28 when we got up in the morning. Here’s a short video of the trip.

    Any members near Clinton BC?

My wife is being transferred to Clinton sometime this summer, any one in that area? Or have any tips for places to explore? I know a bit of the area, I’ve explored Carpenter lake a bit, so I know I can take the big bar ferry. I’ve hauled logs from between Clearwater and 100 mile so I know a few...
