Clearance wont be as big an issue. Im on 35s and 6” lift in the truck. If I can get my jeep out of the garage, dialed in and see how it tows the trailer with its deep gears, I may have that as option. If not, I’ll trade vehicles with the wife and take her jeep.
Haven’t been to any of those places yet. Could I do them in my 4wd truck or would I need to snag the wife’s jeep? My offroad camper can go anywhere the tow vehicles can take it.
Im actually going through this debate myself as to what to get. For my use, have a list of 6 items right off the bat for my jeep, wife’s jeep and camper and Id want something I could print PETG with.
Here is my set up. The regular tow vehicle for outings is my wife’s grand cherokee trailhawk but when its just me and the dog like a couple weeks ago, we take the truck.
With us having a 4” spring king size mattress, we’d be using sheets and comforter if anything. Sleeping bags really weren’t going to be an option. We have a built in diesel heater in the camper as well and put the wife on the side that has the vent.
I too was at expo and first trip out in the new camper. Realized after I got down there that the sleeping bags I had were from when we lived in FL and were for warm weather lol. The camper has the webasto diesel heater, which knocks the chill off in the bed area but with the annex on, I’m sure...
I’d love to go. Been in CO 2yrs and yet to get out and play in the mountains or meet other offroad enthusiasts and/or jeep people. Just picked up a new offroad camper trailer and would be towing with a new GC trailhawk on ko2 tires. Id love to bring my LJ to wheel but cant tow it and the camper...
Wife had a 2015 wk2 ecodiesel that had a leaking turbo fitting at 52k miles. Then after picking it up from the dealership, pulled it over 1/4 miles down the road and popped the hood, noticed they failed to reconnect a hose. I fixed it in a parking lot and the following day we decided to trade it...
Yes it was. Even saw some deer, elk herds and a black bear on my way out. Wasn’t fun setting everything up in the dark first time out with new camper and a dog who had never camped before along with pretty windy conditions, but at that point I didn’t want to drive 1.5hr back out.
Overland Expo - drove down from Denver, first time doing the whole dispersed camping thing, decided to pull off onto a forest road, from 40, 23 miles later, this is the view from my tent tonight, overlooking Sedona area.
I have a 2017 f150 FX4, 3.5 ecoboost, 6” lift, 35” MT tires and average just over 16mpg mixed highway/city in CO. We’ll see what I get towing my trailer over the passes this week as I head to expo.
Yeah we had a 2015 wk2 Limited w/ the ecodiesel (non QL) and the tires rubbed only when brand new. Traded it in for the trailhawk, and now they rub more frequently. Only difference is the QL.
Good thing we don’t live in CA or my wife would have me buying her different wheels if she’d be seeing...
Heading out from Denver wed morning, staying the night somewhere in southeast UT (valley of the gods maybe?) then heading down to Flagstaff Thursday am. Wife is staying behind, so it’ll be me and the dog in my truck (she’s afraid I’ll go wheeling in Moab without her if I take her wk2 trailhawk)...
My wife’s 2018 WK2 Trailhawk has KO2 275/55/20 w/ Black Rhino Mozambique wheels and it was my understanding thats the largest tire that could fit without modifications. Im adding new links in the front as I get tired of hearing her rub the fender liners at full lock pulling out of our driveway...
