I just went through figuring my battery needs for my teardrop. I’ve talked to a lot of people and think I got the best setup for me.
First figure out your power needs. Don’t go any farther with out knowing your daily amp hour usage. Also don’t forget seasonal useage will be different. For me I...
How were the crowds last week? We are thinking of going 3/15-18. It will be our first trial run with our teardrop.
Anyone have any must do areas while we are there?

I can tell you from a guy with more than I can count back injuries but no surgeries (yet), that it is all the seat. Ride means nothing if your back is killing you in 15 minutes of driving. And for me our Rubicon seats are great for my back. It has good lumbar support and on long trip I bring a...
The problem with overlanding is there are a LOT of new people just starting out exploring the back country. Which can be a good thing. The bad part is they don't know what it is like to get public and private areas shut down. Since I was a kid I saw place after place get shut down to dirt bikes...
Here is the state of charge chart for Odyssey batteries.
The numbers you posted today shows you used 50 Ah in 20 hours. That is 30 watts per hour. Not sure where you live but I'm guessing east coast, you get 4 hours of average sun per day. So you would need 185 watts of panels or 2-100...
I went a few years ago and it was probably 75% side by side stuff. There were some deals on things like LED's, straps. I would probably go if we didn't have out of town guest.
It looks like that battery is 100 amp hour. Was it fully charged with an AGM charger? A fully charged AGM battery should be above 13 volts. At 11.8 you used 80% of the battery. Also did you have anything in the fridge when you did the test? Was it pre chilled? If not do the test again and fill...
I've been looking into this for a possible Snowmaster in the future. What I learned so far. Snowmaster claims 12 hours of run time in 24 hours. It will draw 2.5 to 5 amps. lets say 2.5 X 12 = 30 Amp hours per 24 hours.
A 100 watt panal will produce 30 amps over 8 hours in perfect conditions...
This was a big step, getting a title and plates. There are things I would do different next time but it went smooth and had no problems. It was 50 miles round trip and it pulled great.
Slowly getting back to work on the camper. Still not sure what the shoulder problem is but the pain is not as bad. So time to tress on.
The next big step is to get the tongue box done. The battery and a lot of the electrical will be housed there.
I'm going to try something different...
Good points, first today I had an MRI on my shoulder for an injury I've been dealing with for 8 weeks now. I don't see my wife and I lifting the axle into our Jeep and if we could I doubt it would fit. I don't have anyone that I know that I could get together to make a trip out there. If I was...
I see your point and can feel for you and the situation. But you lost me when you have all these reasons you can't get there to retrieve it. Seems like you want someone else to do it which would have been fine if it happened already.
Google maps says you are 5 hours from Death Valley (3 states...
Side trip to Death Valley?
Valley of Fire State Park looks cool.
Can I talk you into bringing a Septor gas can or two down and I'll meet you in Sedona?
A lot of the lower elevation camping is in campgrounds. There is little dispersed camping lower. There is no dispersed camping at negitave elevations. The best thing is to get a map that show the no camping areas so you know for sure. You can find that info on the NPS map in Gaia.
