Third try - now a Bison!

Here's some photos of the truck and trailer in their current configurations for posterity.

Third try - now a Bison!

Well, after spending 35 nights camping and travelling this year the season has basically come to a close! We learned a couple of important things, some related to my inquiry from a few months ago regarding a MITS canopy. The biggest takeaway is that the Iceco fridge/freezer mounted on the...

Who is a Vet, Active or First Responder?

Active duty Army 1999-2003 (parachute infantry). 10 years in law enforcement, another 5 in firefighting/EMS, and about 6 years in SAR.

Third try - now a Bison!

It's been a busy summer (we're up to 28 nights of camping so far!) but we're getting a list together of things to be accomplished over the winter. As it gets darker, lighting has moved up on the priority list again so I added side-facing LED lights and integrated them into the Auxbeam switch...

Third try - now a Bison!

I haven't updated in a while, so here's a few minor details. Right now the MITS alloy tray and canopy are on hold; I just can't justify spending $30,000 on an accessory for a $60,000 truck. I still love the utility and the look, but it's just not practical. We're not really satisfied with our...

Refilling 1lb tanks, who does it?

Yep, that's all we do. +1 more on cold 1 lb. tanks; we put the 1 lb. tanks in the chest freezer overnight before we fill them.

How do you cope when you're stuck at home?

We're pretty snowbound at home from November through April, so I tend to get grumpy AF. Lots of daydreaming, YouTube videos, and trip planning pass some of the time, but otherwise I try to get all of my overlanding projects done so I'm ready to hit the trail as soon as they start to melt out...

Third try - now a Bison!

I'll check them out, though at first glance pricing looks pretty similar. I looked at PCOR as well, and their single US dealer shows zero availability. The BVOAV guys were at Expo West and spent a lot of time answering my questions (as well as a follow up phone call when we got back and I had...

Third try - now a Bison!

The rub is, we don't want livable space (that's what we have our trailer or a tent for). We've identified through several trips now that we lack lockable, weather-tight storage space and really don't want to unpack a bunch of stuff out of our trailer each time we want to fold the bed out. Plus...

Third try - now a Bison!

We have to admit that Oz had overlanding figured out first!

Third try - now a Bison!

I have been quoted $1500 flat for shipping. I guess that isn't ridiculous seeing as it comes from Australia...

Third try - now a Bison!

Considering doing this major modification (scroll down to see pics of a ZR2). MITS Alloy Thoughts? It's a bucketload of $$$ but would increase the functional use of the bed tremendously... :smirk:
