It was ragin’ windy. I’d guess 20 mph - 30 mph gusts. The tent held help very well. On the second night, I removed the rain fly, hoping it’d cut down on the noise. No such luck, lol. It seemed even windier.
My family joined up with another and headed to Lone Pine and the Alabama Hills area for our first overlanding journey, and we were not disappointed. It’s such an amazing area. The two days we camped saw high winds in the area and chilly nights, which is to be expected this time of year, I...
Not much feedback here, lol. I did some more research on the trail, and while it looks great, it might be a bit too early in the year to do this. Temps. look to in the 20s at night and still a bit cold in the day. Also looks like snow up there. I think I'm going to abandoned this trip and try it...
I’m planning my family’s first overlanding trip for spring break — heading out for a few days starting around April 14th from Fresno to the Lone Pine area. We’re planning for the Alabama Hills because of its easy difficulty level. However, I’d also like to try some more beginner/intermediate...
It was brought to my attention that some of the lifting up of the rack was because I mounted the base wrong, so I switched it around and it fits nice and flush now. I’ll post updated photos soon.
Meanwhile, I installed an Overland Pros Anza 1400 and added a Rotopax.
I know this thread is a couple months old, but I’m in Fresno and have been looking for similar roads. I found one for Delilah Lookout and am planning to use it as my first outing as a shakedown drive for my truck and navigating. I created the route in Google Earth and imported it to Gaia for...
I thought I’d share my build process for my 2019 Chevy Colorado ZR2. It’s my first build, and the first I’ve worked on a truck or car in almost 30 years, so a ton of things are new to me in that regards, as well as overlanding in general.
I went with the ZR2 after doing a lot of research. At...
Thanks a ton! I’ve been following your thread and that was what actually started me leaning toward the Colorado. I was headed for a Z71 until Chevy threw those damn incentives at me, and I couldn’t pass up the ZR2.
I'm new here and new to overlanding as well. I'm set to pick up my ZR2 today and am planning my first trip for spring break of this year, which is the week before Easter. I'm looking for suggestions that are model-specific for my truck (Chevy Colorado) and in general for things I should get...
The local dealerships made my decision a bit easier for me. I test drove the Ranger and was impressed by the ride; however, a couple of things, very nitpicky, bothered me. Add those to the fact that the dealerships are all starting at $5,000 above MSRP, one is trying to force LoJack on all of...
I posted this in another thread about the Ranger, lol. The note about the spare sparked my interest, but someone pointed out that it’s a full-sized spare but on a steel wheel instead of the stock.
It does look poor here, but I’m not sure it gets a fair shake on the off-road test. TFL Truck did a head-to-head with a TRD Off Road and it was much more even. The only major dig was the articulation. Otherwise, as a dual-purpose truck, the seemed to prefer the Ranger.
