    Overlanding with older vehicles

@Billiebob that is exactly what I would dream of having, but this poor ol' boy can't afford that. Though, the argument to present to the wife is forming in my head now...

    Overlanding with older vehicles

This idea intrigues me. Would be awesome to get a 50's or 60's pick up, one of the lesser desired classics, then build it up like one does with these newer rigs. I suppose having fab skills would be very useful, to customize for comfort and retrofitting newer parts in places (like shocks...

    Required Reading

Your link sends me to a blank page. I think a great book that needs to be read by all people capable of reading it is The River Why by David James Duncan. It is more about the spirit of overlanders and how that is developed than it is about overlanding, per say. A great read, especially in camp.

    Let’s see some bridges

Ok, one more to shamelessly plug my post over on the adventures old and new sub forum :p Go check it out, my wife and I took a trip to the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument.

    Let’s see some bridges

Oh the bridges I've seen in the places I've been, oh how I wish I could go back again! They don't build bridges if there isn't a reason for it. I like searching out that reason. Can a dam be a bridge? . How about a pic from a bridge? Ok ok... I'm done :p

An Old Trip to Older Cliff Dwellings (56k Killa)

The walk back to the museum is flavorful too. A couple of pictures to make a fact of that statement. In one picture you can juuuusssst make out our car in the parking lot waaaaaayyyyy off in the distance. Being a child at heart, I whipped out my car key fob, put it to my head and pressed the...

An Old Trip to Older Cliff Dwellings (56k Killa)

That's a lot of scrolling and bandwith to finally get to the good stuff. The Gila Cliff Dwelling National Monument is here for the preservation and protection of this site. They keep it accessible to anyone (not so wheelchair friendly I'm afraid) and they ask that you respect that. As such...

An Old Trip to Older Cliff Dwellings (56k Killa)

Back in the old days you walked across the sand bar that is created at the mouth of Cliff Dweller Creek as it enters the west fork of the Gila River. They have since spent a bit of coin and gussied the place up. Makes for a much nicer walk and you get a free interpretive guide that you can use...

An Old Trip to Older Cliff Dwellings (56k Killa)

Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument was created in 1907 by President Roosevelt (Teddy, not Frank) as "the only place in the National Park Service that interprets and preserves part of the Mogollon Culture history." The Mogollon were a ancient Native culture that lived in the area a long time...

An Old Trip to Older Cliff Dwellings (56k Killa)

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, my wife and I traveled down to New Mexico from our home in California to see my family and our other daughter. I'll try and spare the long winded-ness I'm known for and get to the pictures and descriptions... 'cause that is what we are all really here for, is it...

Just completed a 8 day overland trip through the Eastern Sierra's and Death Valley

perhaps its my writing style, but I prefer the posts with pictures over the videos. Not sure why, but I think my imagination has more to make up when looking at a picture in comparison to a video. Great looking trip!

    CO-pilot pics

Doesn't get much better than being on dirt roads, away from people, right next to my Indica. Always on watch, as our Furry Head of Security. Again, my favorite traveling companion... and my wife (at the time she was on a super long interview for the position, little did she know. Travelling...

Tried to get some nature pics posted, but waiting for OB to tell me why my content wasn't allowed. For now, I'll post a pic to help us all miss the wonderful outdoors.

    Storm pics

I just love this thread. One of my favorite things about adventuring is seeing the wide sweeping vistas polkadotted by storm clouds and rain sheets. I always feel just a little bit more human when I see the world working before me. Not so much a storm, but here's one of a foggy morning in...
