I do the same, I start small, work up. The drill I use has an optional second hand grip, if I use both it works better, also if I use a little slower speed it seems to catch less. The real difficulty came once I reached 1/2" size. Then I was drilling through the 3/16" plate spot welded to a 1/4"...
That's pretty close to my plan. I already have the receiver sleeve. I think I'm just going to run the square tubing across, cut a hole in the 3/16" plate, weld the sleeve the the square tubing and the 3/16" plate and call it good. Then all I have to do is run power for the winch and I think I...
I am using 1/4" for the mounts, if I do the tow setup I am going to just run 2" square tubing between the mounts and call it good. Im not planning on moving trailers with the front, I'm going to mount a winch to a carrier plate in the future so that will be the main use.
I've paged through the electronic version, I'm waiting for my paper copy to read it though. I still like reading paper. Looks like a good issue though.
I am. I'm using cutting oil. The problem I'm having is I'm drilling large holes with a hand drill, so the first bit I snapped was 1/4". I was drilling through 3/16" plate and while I was spraying more oil and only supporting the drill with one hand it started to punch through the back side, it...
Had some time to work on my bumper project. I drilled 3 mounting holes for the mounting brackets on the passenger side, I broke 2 drill bits doing it, but once the mounting brackets were done I was able to build the passenger side of the bumper. I wanted to tack it together on the Jeep so I...
Unfortunately not cheap bits, Milwaukee Cobalts. I was able to weld up half of my bumper later in the evening though. I am going to have to buy replacement bits before I finish the other side.
I responded to a SAR mission this afternoon. We had about 45 SAR members respond which is a good turn out. We had a very large area to search though and could have used more. Where ever you love, your local SAR could use your help. You will get lots of cool training, play with some cool stuff...
Mine arrived too! Thanks @administrator and @CorrieOB! Your packaging is great by the way, much more professional than a lot of companies. It's that much more impressive knowing it's just the 2 of you.
Looks clean! I picked did springs and shocks from Fat Bobs Garages, 2.5" lift for $319, I ordered the isolator a from Amazon, though to be honest, the ones I took off looked fine.
Just saw this article, seems a few Highly modified jeeps may see use by the pointy end of the spear. http://gearpatrol.com/2016/01/27/jeep-may-return-active-duty/
