Not sure if this has been addressed or not, but thought I'd throw this out there as I am looking for a little inspiration for my entertainment bag for trips.

What all do you guys like to do for entertainment, aside from the obvious (exploring, cooking, reading, music, etc.), while hanging out around camp while out?

The memories I have involve games of Uno or horseshoes. what do you all carry in your kits to pass the time and get in some quality bonding time with other folks around you?

We don't do much, other than sit around the fire and watch it crackle and pop! We love the sunsets, the coyotes as they wake up and in the summer listen to the whipper wheels as they sing into the evening hours. Once its completely dark we star gaze. We love the silence and nature. During the days, we ride back country, and have picnics to most farthest place and remote we can find.

My daughter loves the brain quest cards, they are like trivia, questions, riddles. We bring card games for the kids and books. We did see an epic projector setup for movies on one outing that was pretty cool setup right on the beach.

I spend almost no time in camp. Camp for me is an overnight stop on my way to somewhere. For instance, when I go to Bryce, I boondock in the Dixie NF. In the morning, I head into the park. So my entertainment is, usually, my telescope and the night sky, reading, listening to music (quietly), and, maybe, watching something on my computer (DVD).

We've had friends bring ladder ball and washer toss. Both pack down small and are easy transport. We've debated getting a set for ourselves.

I tend to just stand or sit and take it all in. Its not that Im against entertainment but I typically wont participate. When im in the wilderness I try to do as little as possible, let my mind relax and wander... occasionally entering an altered state of mind if you know what I mean...

I generally will set up my trailer as basecamp, and then take off in the Jeep to explore the area, or I’ll venture out on foot. In the evenings I’m pretty simple-some cooking, beer drinking, and conversation if I’m with others. Sometimes, after a few beers, I’ll talk to myself if nobody else is around[emoji16]

That pretty much describes what I do too ... even the talking to my self part. I also catch up reading my magazines. I'm part of the pre-internet generation that got most of our automotive info from magazines. I bought 6, 7, 8, ? a month for more years than I can count. I'm down to one a month now (JP Magazine) and I barely read them during the month I get them. I take a stack with me for down time while camping.

I'm right there with you in regards to the magazines. Nothing passed time like sitting around flipping through a good mag. I don't get them any longer at this point, but still have quite the collection at home.

bluetooth speaker untill the fire is lit then just the peace and tranquility of being in the woods at night. It's how i recharge my batteries. My wife recharges hers with live music and dancing. The troubles of marrying a younger woman.

Since I am the only one that camps in my circle of friends, I end up twiddling my thumbs, drinking, drinking, drinking, watching the fire and listening to music. The music helps drown out every little crack/noise/etc........so my over active brain doesn't start freaking out at every noise. I always bring a book, but I never end up reading it. Can't read with music, so I'd have to turn that off to read........but then every little gnat fart gets my brain swimming. I have take movies with on the iPad as well.

But I keep going out and trying........cause waking up in a tent is wonderful!

In addition to the things you already mentioned -cooking, venturing, reading, etc. - we're fans of Uno and we always keep a standard deck of playing cards in our box since there's an endless number of games to be played with it.

Before our last trip, we got this travel magnetic checkers set:
It's great. We played it in bed before we went to sleep and, since it's magnetic, the pieces didn't get out of whack when we moved.
