Met some random camper with a built out old Land Rover while off-road in Oregon in the early 2000's, got to talking and he informed me that what I had been doing since I was a teenager was now called Overlanding 
. Started to follow lots of forums and by total accident found Overland Bound in 2015, waited a year then joined.

I have been involved in many forums, clubs, and communities related to off-roading, overlanding, and travel for a long time. Simply because that's how I grew up, traveled the world a lot with my parents already as a child and as an adult trips became longer and let´s call it overlanding an essential part of m life. After completing anoother long term trip and spending almost a whole year traveling full-time in 2018, I discovered Overland Bound by chance. I don't really remember how it happened anymore, probably while researching on the web.
Looking at OB two of the basic principles immediately caught my eye and inspired me: 1. it doesn't matter what you drive and 2. leave it better than you found it. The first one is often lacking or even contradicted in many forums and communities because they are very brand- or vehicle-type-specific. And that's exactly one thing what I like about OB: no one is excluded because everyone experiences great adventures in their own way, and we can all learn from each other and listen to each other's adventure stories around the campfire. Well, I don't think I need to explain the second one. That's what convinced me, and I joined this great community.
