I hang LED lights under my awning for evening illumination. My friends laugh that when deploy it in the evening untill they see the mood lighting at night.

Haha. I use a 10' luminoodle and get the same results from people.
I run a 40ft string around the perimeter of my awning. The one connecting to the Jeep is an additional strand.
Great build. Been trying to get my wife to appreciate the Subie as much as I do (so we can buy one). Very nice set up.
The Forester keeps impressing me with how capable it is on and off the road.
Love being able to cruise at 75 loaded down and getting 23 mpg and still being able to do some rougher stuff.
Installed some armor on the car.
Engine and transmission primitive racing skid plates, hopefully will have the time this weekend to install the rear diff skid plate.

They were about 450 plus shipping, you get 15% off when you buy all 3 together.
Shipping to Bay area is super quick as Primitive is in Portland.
Got me a skid plate! I'm not a big fan of the stainless/aluminum look so I emailed primitive and they advised not to powder coat or use linex without any reason. Any ideas why?

Honestly save the money and cheap rattle can the armor. You can always touch it up whenever but the big thing here is you'll almost never see it. I hate chrome or bare aluminum and I left mine alone because of that.
Cool!! U can catch me on 280N every morning and afternoon. :) I like your build plans. Looking forward to see it through! Btw any tips on installing the skid plate?

Just make sure to use high temp engine or BBQ paint.
Have a second set of hands to help out as the thing is big and awkward sized. Also instructions tell you to discard the plastic splash shields but I did not like how open it left the wheel well areas so I just trimmed the bottom of them and reinstalled them.

You could but if you actually use the armor it's going to scrape, scratch, and gouge off. Not that anyone will see the paint damage either haha.
