Rally Point Details:

This route is designed to highlight the diversity of the Hoosierland. It highlights not only several of the offroading parks of Indiana but cultural and natural attractions that make Indiana unique. The route highlights environmental stewardship with nightly presentations by experts in overlanding, trail building and environmental concerns in Indiana such as endangered species like the hellbender salamander, the emergence of bear and cougar in Indiana and need for hunting to help balance the populations of whitetail deer.

How: Participants will drive their own vehicles from point to point along the route. The route is published GaiaGPS.com software in a gpx format. There will also be written instructions provided. Good navigational skills and map reading are a must because many of the areas that will be traveled through will not have good cell service. Many of the roads we will be using are unmarked. There is no replacement for good map reading ability and a compass.

I’m putting together a THOR trip for September 29-October 4…a little background first…in 2018 I began putting the THOR together…it was a passion project that I felt there was a need for….Indiana had no Overland Route at the time…I first ran the whole thing with a group of 16 stating out in 10 rigs…5 people and only 3 rigs finished…believe it or not it can be a grueling trip…every year since I have invited a small group of people or I have run it solo…this year I have decided to run it and open it up to a larger audience…and Indy Overlanders seems to be the obvious choice for the first OVO THOR Open Invitational…if you are interested please let me know…there are a few stipulations that go with coming on this trip…if you don’t agree with them then please don’t bother responding…I’m will not be posting this invitation anyplace else but on this chat…so please don’t share it around…it is for people on this chat only…Here is the gist…I don’t advertise it on social media and wish to keep it that way. Here’s why…social media is not why I Overland. I Overland to get away from the grind of daily life and don’t live for my flashing rectangle. So if that’s what you like to do, this trip may not be for you. But if you want an overlanding trip that is not based on likes and constant stops to take drone footage then I’d open an invitation to you. I have been guilty of this in the past and have learned from my mistakes.

This is NOT a kid friendly event. Here’s why…I have kids of my own and I really enjoy taking them on trips with me. But once a year I like to get away with adults, if you do too then this trip may be for you…

No guns. If you can’t leave home without a firearm then this trip is not for you. Here’s why…I have been involved I two incidents in the past while overlanding that just didn’t need to happen and both time were because of firearms. (You can have the full story around the campfire). I don’t bring mine. So if you are ok with that then you are more than welcome to come. If you violate this you will be asked to leave the trip, period.

No pets. I love animals and have been overlanding with my dog many times…but animals add a variable that just doesn’t need to be there in groups of people. Please Overland with your pets on your own trips, it’s a blast. If you are Ok with that then this trip is for you.

No Politics or Religion please and thank you. Look, our society doesn’t need to be divided, Unite We Stand, Divided We Fall…and as my mother said “Never talk politics or religion”…we are overlanders at the end of the day…you should have stories that are more interesting. If you’re ok with that then this trip is for you.

There will be drinking and smoking. If you’re ok with that then this trip maybe for you. Bring some cigars, bourbon and what ever else you smoke for sure!…this is a trip to remember so make it the good stuff…I’ll be bringing Willet Rye…

Limit of 5 rigs…with mine that will be 6 and that is plenty on a trip like this…

So if are ok with all that I am inviting you to come along and have one hell of a good time.
Thanks!
