Saturday Sunset Run: January 29th, Black Mountain, Ramona. Easy 4x4 track, incredible views, four wheeling in the dark!

This Saturday, you're invited to join me for a roll up picturesque Black Mountain in Ramona, for sunset and dinner before descending and departing via the Upper Santa Ysabel Truck Trail to Ramona.

The views are spectacular, all the way to the Pacific, and the trails are passable for any 4x4. There are some narrow rocky sections, and it is common to see vehicles on these trails ranging from Rubicon to Crosstrek.

We will ascend from chaparral up to the pines (!), where we will have a view all the way to the Pacific. The goal is to reach the top well before sunset, in order to comfortably set up and you may enjoy simple, short hikes to the two peaks adjacent to our area. Area. This is dog off leash friendly (although probably deeply illegal and wrong, haha) as long as your buddy will return. There may be a mud puddle up on top, so be advised a towel may be smart... if you've got the dog.

Bring something to cook or enjoy for dinner!

The after dark departure will involve use of your auxiliary lights, but you could survive without them.

Muster is 4:00 p.m. in the parking lot behind La Cocina, roughly on the corner of 7th avenue and Main Street in Ramona. From there we will proceed to Pamo Valley and ascend Black Mountain.

The departure across the Santa Ysabel truck trail, also back to Ramona, should be particularly fun in the dark!
