What do you carry to clean your windshield when out on the trail? I've tried several solutions but haven't found a system I really love.

Powdered Spic N Span. Dump it on a wet shield and scrub the bugs off with a bundle of paper towels.

I use RainX window wash so that I don't have to treat the windshield anymore.

Spray Away glass cleaner is my favorite for cleaning inside, and chrome.

Get some sort of window stripper and detail the window at home . It goes on a lot like a wax or polish but will get rid of all the hard water stains and any grime that’s built up on the glass and it will be way way wayyyyyyy easier to keep clean on the trail .DEF3E91B-D7A6-408B-9352-ABCF384F6118.jpeg

Just a quick caution/reminder (which won’t apply to windshields so much as interior side windows)... if you have an after-market tint, avoid cleaners with ammonia.

Thanks for all the helpful responses so far. I should have made my question clearer. I'm less interested in how and what products are used at home. It's more about if you're out boondocking with a heavy coat of dust, mud, bugs, whatever. I carry a 3M pad and use it with lots of water but wondered if anyone had come up with a more efficient method.

I usually carry a pack of window cleaning wipes and a microfiber towel with me. A dirty windshield drives me crazy!

I have good luck with the Sprayway foaming cleaner at home, so I use the Sprayway wipes on the trail. Microfiber towel from Harbor Freight or the parts store is used to clean up any distracting lint or streaks. The small pack of wipes fit in a door pocket, seat pocket or glove box unlike the giant can of aerosol spray.

The cleaner your windows are at home the less mud and grime will stick to it making it easier to clean on the trail . I also just use the cheap wiper blades that way if dirt and grime mess them up your not out as much money

My method to clean the front windshield when off road is different. I don't carry anything extra with me because I am force to. I have a very limited amount of space since I use a Jeep TJ to explore in. With that said, here is what I do.

First I flip my windshield wipers forward, I then hit my swiper switch and let some of the washer fluid spray on the window. I hold this switch long enough just to put a light mist on the window. Than I grab a rag out of my door pocket and wipe the window down.

This works great for me because I do not need to carry anything extra, it takes very little fluid, and the whole window gets wet enough to get nice and clean. Plus washer fluid is cheap and the reservoir carries a lot of it.

I hope this helps!
