What is the one spice

After several years of a beach-bum existence that culminated in being penniless at the end of every Summer in the South of France; grape picking was the only way to survive. This introduced me to the culture of the vendange and cooking with Herbes de Provence and of course, Red Wine. Two things that influence my culinary preparations to this day.

Speaking as a backpacker, the one spice that makes everything taste incredible is hunger.
+1
Still the best burger I've ever eaten was at Caratunk B&B on the Appalachian trail. Something about hiking 150 miles adds spice to everything.

If I could only have one, it'd probably be Old Bay. I could put that shit on anything.

If it was my spouse, who's really the culinary one, I'm guessing it'd either be Cumin, Cayenne pepper, or Paprika.

This very local (and you'll find it some places in Aus) but I can not go without "Braai spice"! We braai (BBQ) a lot (lamb chops, boere wors (spicey sausage), steak, sosaties (kebabs) etc). Braai spice goes on everything!
The recipe;
1 tot salt (I like to use high-quality coarse salt and then crush it.)
1/2 tot ground black pepper
1/2 tot paprika
1/2 tot crushed garlic powder
1/2 tot ground coriander
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground allspice (pimento)

Bolners Fiesta Uncle Chris' Gourmet Steak Seasoning. No doubt

Paprika goes on everything. If you are looking for a blend, Tony Chachere's creole seasoning...

The spicy soup powder you get from instant ramen. Its salty, spicy, and full of flavor.
I can put this on almost anything.
