What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Corrected an issue with lowering the spare tire on my LR4, the essential problem is you can not get at the tire winch with the load space loaded.

This is for a newer LR4 with the hook system for the tire winch, this is a worthwhile piece of kit.

Cost is 45.00 US with shipping in the lower 48, from TuffAnt USA A big shout to Jake there who worked with me to get a decent shipping price to Canada.

It is basically an adaptor that takes a 1/4 inch socket extension.
The only change to the LR4 is the removal of the plastic trim pieces on the rear folding seats.
Installation takes about 15 minutes.

Remove the plastic trim shown in the last image T-15 torex screw drive for those.
Pop the plastic surround off from around the winch hook
Insert the plastic bushing into the winch hook
Drop the adaptor in place
Insert the bolt, this is the hard part it is a bit fiddly to get in place. 13mm wrench to tighten
Replace the plastic surround, warming it up and gentle pressure with a screwdriver fits it in place
Lower your seats
Insert a 4 inch 1/4 extension, you can do this before lowering the seats. But it is very tight fit.
The extension fits flush to the floor
I use a 3/8 to 1/4 socket adapter and short sliding breaker bar to operate the winch. You can add extensions if required.

Cavets:
1 Your winch needs to be working smoothly - it should anyway.
2 I did not secure the 4 inch extension so after a tire change I need to place a screwdriver on top to prevent it popping out of the adaptor. Not a big deal.

The Turbos are being replaced. I called Ford to find out how much longer until I get her back. The response implied the vehicle had seen its own shadow, panicked, and crawled back into whatever fluorescent cave they are keeping it in.

Now that the 5er is moved into its final resting position, its time to put the camper back together. New cap seal and put the flooring back in! I have a trip in 17 days...wish me luck!

I put this sticker on my tailgate today.
Anyone here a fan of The Monkey Wrench Gang?
I designed a "Hayduke Lives" logo and made some 5" transfer stickers in black or white and clear acrylic 2" keychains.
DM me if you want to exchange some digital dollars for a sticker and/or keychain.

And installed one of the side racks. The other one came with the wrong mounts, so I have to wait on replacements.

Tinkering around, making my punch list of things I want to finalize before my May trip. Starting with repairing the fire extinguisher plastic mounts with an aluminum base!
