What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

@M Rose what happened to your engine? I went back a few pages and couldn't find anything

It died on a return trip from Kennewick a couple weeks back. When I got it running again a long side the freeway. The power steering pulls let loose

Then when I went to change out the power steering pump, I had oil and coolant flow out of a bolt on the right hand head that nothing should have come out of. And lastly the intake plenum is choked with burnt oil and carbon deposited,.
So I’m tearing the top end down to see what the condition of the block is in. And by the looks of it so far it’s either rebuild the block time, or find a different engine to swap in. Either way I’m not too happy...

Because my heads have crossover tube controlled with a valve controlled by the ECU, swapping heads means I have to make an engine harness and swap the ECU or have drivability issues... and then things go south from there from what I’m learning... looks like I have to have an ECU for a factory 5 speed if I go with the newer motor as the auto was computer controlled, transfer case swap because it too is computer controlled (Electric shift vs my manual shift)... the list is getting bigger and bigger.
Oh boy. Not just dumb blocks of iron anymore. SMH

After Steens Mountain yesterday, camped last night at south Steens campground. Left the group, had a beautiful drive back to Burns to hit Napa. Ordered new fan clutch (due tomorrow at 8 am) and got the right tools. Found a recycler to take the dead Norcold fridge and bought a cooler at Big R. Pulled into the shade at a park, removed old clutch fan, bent spring to force valve shut. Now sitting in the shade, idling with AC on, 98 deg outside, and engine running 195 deg. There is hope to salvage this trip. Ill pick up the new clutch tomorrow in case this mod doesn't hold.

Yea... but only for 87-91... in 1992 they went back to normal heads, and in 1996 the OBD II came out, so looking at the 96* swap to get OBD II
Maybe its just time for a LS swap

That’s Blasphemy, a Chevy powered Ford...
A Bronco needs a Coyote engine.
Now that’s the ticket, and actually what I have in mind... it sounds like a $6,000 upgrade. Actually looking for a donor rig with the Coyote engine, Sterling 10.25 with e-lockers and a manual transmission

Something fell off...

Hard to find good repair work around my AO. The shop didn’t allow the RTV to cure long enough before bolting the shaft collar to the trans (NV3550). Leaking gear oil while driving (clean spots on the bottom of the bell housing). Might as well remove the exhaust to inspect the pre-cats while I’m at it.

It’s a J.E.E.P., something always falls off :)

Has anybody done anything with a 80's model s10 blazer? I had 2 of them an 86 and 88 and both were kinda 3rd gen 4runner wannabe's and way under powered.. I never had a 4.3 mine were 2,8's and not worth a flip on power.

I had an 87 Camaro with that same 2.8. A whopping 125 blazing horses!

Went and got boxes and bubble wrap for moving. On our way back stopped at a local Place and did a small hike. Haven’t done much in over 3 years. Try and walk a little further each day. Bought insurance for it, haven't set eyes on it yet. T4R TRD off road w KDSS, Metallic Gray.
I have never driven a 4x4 before. Hopefully I pick it up next week. Sent up the bat signal for some friends to help me pull the back seats and build an interior.
It has been a year of planning so far, time to find out what I didn't know I didn't know. You all make this sound fun - I am betting my retirement on that.
Are stock tires OK to start? I figured to get loaded and dirty before I do much to it. It should have skid plates on delivery, sliders are simple enough to bolt on.
Hopefully someone else has a winch for my first time getting stuck. I don't mind if you laugh at me so long as you explain the joke so I can laugh too.
