On a whim I hit up Overland Expo West 2026 in Flagstaff a couple weeks ago. Literally made the decision to go solo that Wednesday night. Had camp set up by Friday afternoon.
No rig. Just the camping gear I could fit in a suitcase, a carry-on, some fondling by the TSA, and a rental car drive up from Phoenix.
What a blast. Met a lot of cool people. One of the highlights was the content creator rave Saturday night.
Also won a prize at the raffle. Was pulling for one of the exhibitor rigs but walked away with a nice tee instead. No complaints.
I heard there used to be an obstacle course in previous years, but didn’t see one.
Wish I posted here at the time to see if anyone from here wanted to connect. But the whole trip happened so fast.
I think I’ll be back. Maybe next year with a little more planning and, hopefully, my own rig.
And early enough to post up away from the busy dirt road. Came home with plugged sinuses and a lung full of dust. Hence my just now getting around to post this.
