I've recently completed my second utility trailer conversion. Started out purchasing a base trailer. It wasn't suitable for off-road use, mainly due to its length and tires. The first thing I did was put on 31" mud terrains and chopped off the whole overhanging rear end.

Next I needed a way to mount the Yakima cross bars I still had from my Pathfinder. What I came up with was a simple solution that allowed me to make a solid base. I used square tube over an angled piece of steel. I cut the tube open on one side, 3/4's of the way to be able to use the oem mechanism of the Yakima landing pads. I kept 1/4 of the tube uncut, reasoning that it would add rigidity to the design.

After some fresh paint and a few touch ups, the trailer was ready for the RTT.
